The 2017 MLB All-Star Game events took place in Miami, Florida from July 7-11. To commemorate baseball and the 8th year of partnership with MLB, Scotts participated in events over the course of the entire weekend with FanFest; Pitch, Hit & Run Finals; and a Field Refurbishment

MLB FanFest

FanFest took over the Miami Beach Convention Center to celebrate Major League Baseball with a variety of interactive attractions and events. Attractions are Fanfest included clinics lead by current and former players, memorabilia, autograph sessions with Hall of Famers and Marlins players, and much more!


Scotts got in the action with the “Fields of Play” booth, which offered fans of all ages fun giveaways, including the popular grass hats, a GIF social photo booth with a beautiful living wall, and airbrush face painting.

Pitch, Hit & Run Finals

Scotts continued to reinforce their commitment to youth sports with the 20th annual 

Pitch, Hit & Run competition finals at Marlins Stadium. The 24 finalists beat out over 625,00 youth participants across North America, ages 7-14. The top top three boys and girls from each of the three age groups battled it out on the field for the championship title. Every finalists was given the once in a lifetime opportunity to shag balls later that night at the All-Star Home Run Derby!

Field Refurbishment at the Kendall Boys & Girls Club of Miami-Dade

Scotts finished out 2017 MLB All-Star weekend with it’s fifth Field Refurbishment of the year at Kendall Boys & Girls Club of Miami-Dade. Scotts partnered with the Marlins, A-ROD CORP, and MLB to identify a field within the city that would benefit from this program. The fields onsite at the Kendall Club serve more than 900 youth from across the community.
Improvements to the field included; conditioning, grading, and leveling of infield, outfield sod replacement, dugout enhancements, as well as installation of a scoreboard and windscreen. Josh Peoples, VP of Lawns, was joined by Alex Rodriguez and Miami Marlins Giancarlo Stanton in the unveiling on the new field. The renovation and expansion is expected to increase the number of children served daily from 20 to as many as 100 teens per day.
