Four feedings per year is a good a rule of thumb for all lawns, both Northern and Southern. We recommend one feeding each in early spring, late spring, summer and fall.
Unfortunately, yes. Using too much fertilizer can cause burning, which is when your grass turns yellow or brown and eventually dies. This usually occurs in streaks along your lawn. The great thing about a Scotts® 4 Bag Bundle is that you get the right kind of fertilizer for every season. Simply follow the program and apply products according to the label directions. You'll avoid overfeeding and have a sweet, green lawn.
