Tips and Tricks for Using The My Lawn App

You’ve discovered the My Lawn app. You love that it helps you keep track of your lawn care. You appreciate all the great tips and alerts. But you’ve got a few questions. You’ve come to the right place—we’re here to help you get the most out of this lawn care and maintenance tool.

Why is the app not suggesting a weed and feed?

We have created hundreds of lawn care plans based on location, grass type and the lawn conditions entered into the app. Any one of those inputs could play a role in the product suggestions. However, most likely it is due to one of four factors:

  • You indicated weeds are not a major issue in your lawn.
  • Based on your lawn thickness, we are recommending a seeding product instead.
  • In some cases, if you don't pick a grass type, we aren't able to recommend a weed and feed.
  • You may have a grass type for which we are unable to recommend a weed and feed.

If you want to add a weed and feed, such as Scotts® Turf Builder® Weed & Feed or Scotts Bonus® S Southern Weed & Feed, simply swap out your spring feeding with a weed and feed that is labeled for your grass type. Another option is to add a liquid weed control product, such as Ortho® Weed B-Gon® Lawn Weed Killer, to your plan. Always read and follow label directions when applying any product.

So how do I add or substitute a product in my plan?

We made the app flexible so you can customize your plan. To add a product, use the + symbol in the app, select the proper category, and choose the product you wish to add. Tap "Use This Product" at the bottom of the app, then choose a date.

To substitute a product, tap the product you wish to substitute from the Activities tab on the Plan screen. Tap "Edit" at the top right, then "Edit Activity," and finally "Change Product." Choose the product you plan to use and save the date. Note that deviating from your product recommendations may affect your results.

What if I want to use the Scotts program I already purchased?

We've added a new feature to the My Lawn App that allows you to create a lawn care plan using the Scotts program you have purchased.

To access this feature, you will need to create a new lawn care plan. After entering your zip code and grass type, you will be directed to create a custom lawn care plan or select a program. Click "I already purchased a program" to select the program you have purchased.

What if I'm using the Scotts® 4 Step® Program?

If you've purchased the Scotts® 4 Step® Program, simply follow the same steps as above.

How do I keep track of products I apply?

That's easy, because the app tracks your products and when you apply them with a little help from you.

When the product is due, simply tap on "APPLIED" and save the date you applied it. In the Overview tab at the top, you will see a record of what you applied or skipped, and other activities "due" for the year. The app will save 3 years worth of activities, so you can remember what you did in the prior years. This is a great way to save Notes and Photos as well.

Even if you indicated you "SKIPPED" the activity or product, it will save that too so you remember the next time.
