DESCRIPTION
Scotts® EZ Seed® Patch & Repair Sun and Shade is a revolutionary grass seeding product designed to fill in bare spots on your lawn. This Sun & Shade grass seed grows in tough conditions, including full sun, dense shade, high traffic areas and on slopes. Scotts® EZ Seed® Patch & Repair consists of high performance grass seed, continuous release lawn food, and super-absorbent growing mulch material. Scotts® EZ Seed® Patch & Repair Sun and Shade also includes a tackifier to help reduce seed wash-away and a protectant to help keep seedlings safe from harmful diseases. There are three easy steps to success: 1) prep the area by removing dead grass and loosening hard soil, 2) evenly apply EZ Seed® so the area is mostly covered but bare ground is still visible, and 3) saturate with water until no more water is being absorbed and mulch turns dark brown. Plant seed in the spring or fall when daily average soil temperatures are consistently between 55°F and 70°F, or air temperatures between 60°F and 80°F. For best results, keep kids, pets, and lawn mowers off newly planted seedlings until the grass is 3 inches high.
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
How to Use
1. PREP - Simply prepare the area you want to grow grass. Remove dead grass and loosen hard soil to help tiny seedlings root.
2. APPLY - Evenly apply EZ Seed® so the area is mostly covered, but bare ground is still visible so that seed contacts the soil. The mulch will expand 4X upon watering to help cover the seed and keep it moist (Use half as much for thin areas). Only apply the recommended amount so that seedlings have enough space to access water and nutrients.
3. WATER - A deep and thorough initial watering is the key to success. Gently water the area until EZ Seed® is completely saturated and no more water is being absorbed (may take several minutes). Avoid pooling water. When EZ Seed® begins to turn light brown, it's time to water again. Continue to water daily as needed to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall.

When to Apply
- Spring and early summer are the best times to plant EZ Seed® because the seed germinates best when daytime temperatures are between 60 degrees F and 80 degrees F.

Great Product
Wow, this product is fantastic. We had a large trench near our landscaping around half the house that needed new grass, some areas were almost 6 feet wide. All the clay was turned up, so we applied a light topsoil, then EZ seed, watered as directed. It looks fabulous, it's been since May and the color has blended beautifully with our existing lawn. Very pleased.

Easiest way to grow grass
I've tried many different products when it comes to growing grass, with varying results. The Scotts EZ Seed is far and away the best one. Consistently produces healthy, thick grass, usually mowable after 2-3 weeks. All you need to do is keep it wet. No need for straw or any additional fertilizer. Just make sure its consistently moist and the day time temps aren't much higher than 80 or lower than 60. It's expensive but well worth it.

Highly recommend especially in early Spring
I bought this EZ Seed a little over two weeks ago and I am VERY happy with this product. When I first got it and started using it, I had ignored the negative reviews that I saw but kept in the back of my mind that some times this seed just flat out doesn’t work. After about 6-7 days I started to get very concerned that I had just wasted over $200 to fix the bare spots in my lawn. Probably around the 8th day I started seeing most of the patches germinating and I am VERY pleased to say that the grass is going on day 20 and the lawn looks completely renewed. The grass is really starting to grow in and fill the gaps.
By no means am I an expert on lawn care. In fact, my wife and I just bought a house a little under a year ago and this is the first time we’ve had a chance to go through the full season cycle of taking care of our lawn. BUT I highly recommend taking the time to wait to lay these seeds in the early spring when the temps are steadily between 60-80 and paying attention to the rain in the forecast. Begin by
mowing then till the patch(es) with a solid rake to expose soft soil THEN laying the seed down so most of it makes contact with the dirt underneath. Immediately after begin watering for several minutes and everyday after once or twice a day for about 30 minutes so the grass can soak up all the water and establish roots.
All in all I’m very satisfied with this product and would highly recommend this to anyone that needs to repair bare spots in their lawn

EZ Seed Patch & Repair Sun & Shade Works!
I purchased EZ Seed Patch & Repair Sun & Shade canister to hopefully grow grass in a bare spot in front of a home recently purchased. I followed the instructions and sprinkled the seedlings onto the bare spot on 4/23/24 and water every time the area changed from dark brown (moist) to light brown (need more water), and to my happy surprise on 4/30/24 when I went outside to water the area beautiful little Green Strands of grass has filled the area!!! I'm tickled bc I didn't see them yesterday and it's as if they pushed through the dirt over night, but it took 8 days for them grow and they're adorable. I'm going to purchase a couple more containers from Home Depot to fill patches in backyard.

Better than anything else I've tried
I tried so many things to cover the bare spot under a tree in my backyard. Nothing worked. So on a whim I bought a canister of EZ Seed sun and shade last Fall. It works!! In fact it worked so well I just bought a 10# bag for the other bare areas in my yard. Thank you Scott's!
