Nice bright color and easy to spread
I purchased 12 bags because it was on sale. The red is very bright (for now at least) and looks great against the green of my plants and the color of our brick. It was more shredded than thick chunks, which I like. I think it's easy to get in to the harder to reach areas under plants and along edges.
I do want to note that it had rained here and when I bought it it was soaked pretty good... SO if you plan on buying this bring something to put down in your trunk/cargo area like a shower curtain (not towels) because it will leak reddish colored water all over. and make sure you cover the sides of your car too.
If it goes on sale again I will probably buy more.

Looks beautiful around the house
I love this product. Coupons make it even better. It looks great in our flower beds, around the shrubs and trees. The red coloring last far longer than any other brand. It's perfect.

Product works well in my garden
I bought 40 bags in Calgary for my garden a month ago. It still looks great with no loss of color and no contaminates in any of the bags. I have seen none of the issues reported by other customers in this thread so in my experience it is a good product.

Update of 1 my previous 1 star review
I want to update my previous 1 star review (as SL55). I reached out to Scotts and they were wonderful. I did mention that the first 9 bags lost all of their color, but the next 6 I purchased were great. They were very apologetic (and the woman I spoke to was just lovely) and have refunded my money for the 9 bags I complained about. After a long conversation with them it may be how they were stored at the the purchase location that impacted this. So I will definitely give Scotts another try! Thank you for listening and providing exceptional service in a time when others are option not to help resolve issues.

Chunky rather than shredded mulch
I have bought hundreds of bags of Scotts Nature Scapes Black mulch over the past several years.
What I have noticed is that most of the mulch is shredded wood, while occasionally I am lucky enough to get bags where the wood is processed more chunky. I very much prefer the chunky mulch style, and I was wondering if there is a way I can specially order or know I am getting the chunky style (eg. what processing center makes the chunkier style)? Does what I had in mind
I used Scott's nature scapes red mulch product for my friends house. It gave a nice contrast to the shrubs and smaller plants. The key feature to the product is that the mulch isn't composed of large chunks of wood; rather small chunks. Good product. Price is a quite high though.

True to it's color
I changed this summer to Scott's sierra red mulch, and I am so happy with the result. Did not have to do too much watering, and the garden stayed bright and colorful.

Pretty good product
I bought 25 bags of this product for my new flower bed areas. Few of the bags had large red rocks in them. Overall the product has reduced the need to weed, looks good and the color is pretty good. I will be buying more.

Great Product
This product is great the color last very long, it keeps the soil moist therefore I water less. One thing I don't like is some times the color is slightly difference (purchased a pallet) but it not that big of a deal. Overall I would highly recommend this product.

Disappointed in number of rocks
Just bought 4 bags from my local Ace Hardware. I have enough rocks, I don't need more. Very disappointed with the amount of rocks per bag. A few small stones I can understand but rocks 3" in diameter are ridiculous.

Easy to Carry?
Your bag states that it is easy to carry. I do not know how you draw such a conclusion as it is no different than any other bag. How about you incorporate a plastic carry handle into the bag. Then you could state it is easier to carry.

Downgraded Quality
Have bought this brand mulch for several years and suddenly the quality is terrible.
As mentioned in other reviews there are very large chunks of wood and misc plastic like debris in the mulch. It also has the white stuff on the mulch ? Is this mold? What a disappointment

Terrible product
I recently purchased 150 bags of Scott’s Naturescape deep forest brown mulch all on the same day at the same retailer. I have a large section to apply this mulch. I spread 100 bags on 2/3 of the area and the color matched. On the remaining 1/3 of the area, the remaining 50 bags were a completely different color. It was similar to a chocolate brown. Totally different color than the previous 100 bags. After doing all the work spreading the 150 bags, to see 1/3 of the area a different color is extremely upsetting. Very upsetting. I will no longer be purchasing Scott’s Naturescape mulch. Their clearly is no (zero) quality control or inspectors.

Not ground properly
Same issue as the previous review. Half dollar sized chuncks. I've been using this mulch for years, and i've never seen it thus bad. Is an eye sore compared to their normal product. Do better with your QC

Good color to start but inconsistent with chunks
I bought 6 bags of Scotts Nature Scapes Color Enhanced Mulch Deep Forest Brown. Having used this in the past, I was aware of the general size and consistency of this product. This year, however, I found too many "chunks" of either tree limb or tree crooks the were quite a bit larger than previous batches. If you see the accompanying photo, some of these escaped the shredding machine. I just bought 6 more bags of the "Fine Shred" version to see if that version will improve on the inconsistent sizes in the "normal" size mulch Scotts sells.

Color inconsistent
Just purchased 10 bags from a big box home supply store. Turns out half were last year's stock and the color....Sierra Red... was brown in the new stock, not red. It was also all mildew and soaking wet. Scotts should not allow stores to sell last year's stock, at least not at the same price as new.

Bags arrived dripping wet from Lowes. Obviously stored outside in the elements. My concrete driveway is now badly stained. Any suggestions on how to remove the stain. I’d rather not use bleach.

White mold?
We bought 14 bags of the brown mulch and most of the mulchy wood (larger pieces than the mulch we usually buy locally) was quite damp when we opened the bags and covered with this white moldy stuff. I've read the reviews (seems a common complaint) and Scott's response that the white mold isn't toxic to plants. Don't understand why the wood mulch is so wet, it has dried out just being out of the bags. Hope the stuff (including the color) isn't toxic, we've put almost all of it down today before I decided to check reviews. Won't buy this stuff again, though.

Oh, no...left stains on concrete
Bought almost 40 bags of black mulch. Easy to handle and spread, BUT it left black stains on the concrete driveway and sidewalk. I purchased shower curtains to lay on the sidewalk before I unloaded the mulch. Never did I think that the dripping bags, as well as shoe prints would stain the concrete. After several days of rain and attempting to scrub them, the marks remain.
The employee at Lowe's recommended Scott's Nature Scapes when I needed additional bags. However, I was too reluctant to buy them again. Very disappointed.
I contacted the company and was very surprised that no one else voiced this concern. The company was quite responsive regarding a refund. Scott's is a company whose products I have used for years. Nature Scapes Black Mulch does not measure up to their usual quality.

Price Increase 60+%
The product "sale price" was 5 bags for $10 at the first of the week at Lowe's. So I purchased 10 bags. Went back to Lowe's a couple of days later to purchase some more, and now the "sale price" is 3 bags for $10. A 60+% increase. Not a happy gardener.

I disagree that mold in the mulch is good for the garden. Very disappointed that brand name “Scott’s “ mulch has large chucks of wood and white mold/ mildew. I find the “no name” brand at No frills to be better.

Lost color
Bought black mulch and before a month was up it had lost most of its color. My friend bought Walmart brand black mulch and after all summer it's still the same color as day one. Very disappointed.

Smells Horrible
I bought 3 bags a few days ago. It spreads well and I love the rich black color but the smell is HORRIBLE! Smells like manure and now there are a ton of flies around my yard. Will the smell dissipate? Or am I stuck with a stinky yard?
