DESCRIPTION
Scotts® PatchMaster® Lawn Repair Mix Tall Fescue Mix comes pre-mixed to make repairing bare spots easy! This product contains a mixture of premium Tall Fescue seed to blend with your existing lawn, 100% recycled mulch to help keep seeds moist and in place, and fertilizer for fast growth and thick results. In fact, this mix starts to grow in as few as 7 days, feeds up to 6 weeks, and absorbs 3x its weight in water! Apply in the fall or spring when daytime temperatures are between 60°F and 80°F. Evenly spread a thin layer of PatchMaster® Lawn Repair Mix so the area is completely covered. A deep and thorough initial watering is the key to success. Gently water the area until PatchMaster® is completely saturated and no more water is being absorbed. Continue to water daily or more as needed to keep the soil moist. One 4.75 lb. bag of Scotts® PatchMaster® Lawn Repair Mix Tall Fescue Mix has a bare spot coverage of 70 sq. ft. and a thin grass coverage of 140 sq. ft.
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
How to Use
- Prep - Remove dead grass if necessary and loosen the top 2 inches of soil.
- Apply - First, shake the bag to mix the contents. Next, evenly spread a thin layer of PatchMaster® Lawn Repair Mix so the area is completely covered.
- Water - A deep and thorough initial watering is the key to success. Gently water the area until PatchMaster® Lawn Repair Mix is completely saturated and no more water is being absorbed (this may take several minutes). Avoid pooling water or run-off. Continue to water daily or more as needed to keep the soil moist.
WHEN AND WHERE TO USE
Where to Use
- This product is designed to repair bare or thin spots in your lawn.
Where Not to Use
- Do not apply near water, storm drains, or drainage ditches.
- Do not apply if heavy rain is expected.
- Apply this product only to your lawn and sweep any product that lands on the driveway, sidewalk or street, back onto your lawn.
When to Apply
- Fall and Spring are the best times to use PatchMaster Lawn Repair Mix.
- Seed germinates best anytime temperatures are between 60°F and 80°F and all danger of frost has passed.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Watering Tips
- Water daily to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall.
Using with Other Products
- Do not apply weed control products until the grass is well established (mowed at least 4 times).
- Additionally, if you recently used a weed control product, refer to those product instructions to determine how soon you can plant grass seed.

Pleasantly surprised and greatly satisfied!
I was initially concerned by the negative product reviews and scaled-back my initial use but am extremely pleased with the results. I wonder if any/many of the negative reviews resulted from failing to notice the instruction to thoroughly shake the bag to eliminate the settling that could occur in storage and/or transit? I took that to heart and shake the heck (maybe a bit harder) our of that bag even between uses.

Scotts PatchMaster really works
I used PatchMaster on a couple spots that were bare in my yard. I have a good cover of tall fescue overall in yard. But i had a couple problem areas. I prepared spots to reseed by raking soil to loosen. I then applied the PatchMaster to areas. I watered as directed and kept it damp for several days. The seeds started to grow. I continued to water as directed. I now have no dead patches of lawn. I am a dedicated user of Scotts lawn products. I have been using their products for a few years now. I would
not switch. I have tried the cheaper brands. My yard is greener with no weeds.

This product is superior to any patch bag I have ever used or tried. The tall Fescue was the perfect bled for my yard. I added a new mailbox a large style brick based one and I had ruined some grass in the surrounding area. I applied this as the directions said, kept it watered and in no time at all it blended it like the entire lawn was done at the same time.

worked well in the shade
After I killed all the clovers under my Maple Tree I patched this whole bag in, Not because I had any problems with the clover killer but because now with all the clovers gone it was a little thin. THEN I applied this bag of patch master carefully following the directions. Its a little messy I'm not going to lie, stinks kinda too but hey its most likely all the good nutrients and fertilizer. Anyways in about 2 weeks I had 2-2.5 inch high grass blades and it all rooted in well !! !

Good product
I used this product last October to patch several spots that a tree removal crew had created. With-in 10 days I had cover sprouts. By thanksgiving the spots were entirely filled in. Thank you Scotts. I will be mowing this new grass in May. Today however, there is 10” of snow covering it.

great for patching bare spots
I have used Scott,s Patch Master to patch bare spots in my yard & the grass comes in really thick usually in less than 2 weeks.
