Weed Control in a Scotts® ProVista™ St. Augustine Lawn for Professionals

With a Scotts® ProVista™ lawn, you can combat weeds in ways that were never achievable for conventional turf.

Starting Clean

ProVista™ sod growers are able to deliver a cleaner product right from the start. This allows for a “start clean, stay clean” scenario that could never be achieved before. Starting clean means that when sod is delivered, you’ll find it contains fewer weeds.

Staying Clean

Once installed, ProVista™ stays clean with its tight, dense growth. This helps crowd out grassy and broadleaf weeds by leaving them little room to grow.

Maintaining a Weed-Free Landscape

You’re a professional and you know it’s a fact: Weeds will happen. To keep weeds away, use your standard toolkit of pre-emergent and post-emergent products to control broadleaf and grassy weeds.

Your standard toolkit has its limits, though. Invasive, grassy weeds like common bermuda, torpedograss or tropical signalgrass, have up until now been nearly impossible to remove from conventional lawns without hurting the desirable turf. With Scotts® ProVista™ St. Augustinegrass, you can now add a non-selective herbicide tool to your toolkit. Specific non-selective herbicides can be applied directly to ProVista™ turf - killing the weeds, not the grass. That’s because the specialized technology used to develop ProVista™ grass has made it resistant to these herbicides.

Note: See the Professional Use Guide for specifics on herbicides and usage.

For maximum effectiveness and stewardship, mix non-selective herbicides with other post/pre-emergent herbicides to ensure multiple modes of action are applied.

Pro Tip: Non-selective products often contain surfactants, so avoid mixing with any products that state “do not use surfactant.”

Only make one application every 30 days and no more than three applications should be made in any calendar year. You should not make more than one application in sequence in your weed-treatment program. Rotating herbicides throughout the growing season is better for the turf and provides maximum weed control. (The first application should be made in an inconspicuous area to ensure that the mixture will provide the intended result.)

For the best results, apply when ProVista™ and any weeds are actively growing and not under stress.

Remember: Apply all herbicides according to their label instructions.
