DESCRIPTION
Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Sunny Mix thrives in direct sun. This mix contains Root-Building Nutrition, a combination of ingredients that is expertly crafted to help establish deep roots to grow thick, green turf so that you can build a better, stronger lawn from the roots up. Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Sunny Mix is designed for full sun and light shade, and has medium to high drought resistance with medium to high durability. It can be used to seed a new lawn or overseed an existing lawn. For best results, apply in the spring or fall when daily average soil temperatures are consistently between 55°F and 70°F or air temperatures are between 60°F and 80°F. We recommend using a Scotts® spreader to apply this product (please refer to spreader settings on product label). Water daily or as needed to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall. One 2.4 lb. bag of Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Sunny Mix has a new lawn coverage of 360 sq. ft. and an overseeding coverage of 1,080 sq. ft.
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
How to Use
Prep (new lawns)
- Rake area to loosen the top layer of soil (approximately 2"" deep) and remove any dead grass or debris, ensuring seed-to-soil contact.
Overseeding
- Mow lawn at the lowest setting and bag the clippings. Rake to remove debris, dead grass, and loosen the soil, ensuring seed-to-soil contact.
Apply
- Use a Scotts® spreader to apply the seed at the recommended spreader setting.
Rake
- Lightly rake the seed into the soil to ensure seed is covered just beneath the soil surface.
WHEN AND WHERE TO USE
Where Not to Use
- Do not apply near water, storm drains or drainage ditches.
When to Apply
- For best results, plant seed in the spring or fall when daily average soil temperatures are consistently between 55°F and 70°F, or air temperatures between 60°F and 80°F.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Watering Tips
- Lawn seed should be watered daily or as needed to keep the soil moist for at least 3 weeks or until seedlings reach 2 inches in height.

Lovely grass
I planted this a few weeks ago in a bare area and it's sprouted after just 8 days. And now it's about an inch and a half 2 in high and it looks beautiful.

So far, perfect!!
I seeded a small area (100 sq ft) that I have been having issues with for a couple of years.
I removed the old sod, and replaced the top couple of inches with new soil and compost.
After seeding, I lightly raked the seed into the soil and then covered the area with a very thin layer of peat moss.
Depending on the weather, I lightly watered it either once or twice a day.
A little over 3 weeks later, it looks AWESOME.
I plan on tackling a larger area in my back yard in the spring.

This product stunned neighbors
In early Sept I had to have a large 25yo maple tree cut down and the stump ground down. I smoothed the stump chips, removing the larger wood pieces. Then I raked in several bags of good top soil. I liberally applied Scotts Sunny grass seed mix. Surprisingly the temp turned hot and dry so I had to water frequently. My efforts paid off and two months later it's as if there was never a huge tree. My neighbors were quite amazed at the speed my new lawn appeared.

Nice.
I used this for the first time (I generally do the recommended fertilization all year round but this year I had a patch after the winter). After keeping it moist for a couple of weeks, my lawn looks so nice. The spot - you would never know it ever existed!

sun and shade--it works!
I have had little or no luck in getting grass to grow from seed. But---I seeded in Scott's Sun & Shade 8 days ago, and Bingo, grass. Just follow the 123 instructions, and ----grass..Thanks Soctts.

Worked great late in the season
I used this product very late in the season (Northeast). I used a tarp to help produce heat. Much to my surprise, the new grass came in pretty well. I did not think it would work, so I hardly put any effort into it.

Trouble spots in a hot, sunny, dry location
We bought this product for the side of my Mother's house that gets pounded with sun from 9AM to 4PM every day. There are no shade trees nearby either and she cannot get out to water. Nothing would grow there until we tried Scott's Turf Builder Grass Seed Sunny Mix!
She now has strong, healthy green grass over there. Great value and outstanding results!
