DESCRIPTION
Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Tall Fescue Mix is durable to resist harsh conditions. This mix contains Root-Building Nutrition, a combination of ingredients that is expertly crafted to help establish deep roots to grow thick, green turf so that you can build a better, stronger lawn from the roots up. Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Tall Fescue Mix is designed for full sun and partial shade, and has medium to high drought resistance with high durability. It can be used to seed a new lawn or overseed an existing lawn. For best results, apply in the spring or fall when daily average soil temperatures are consistently between 60°F and 75°F or air temperatures are between 65°F and 85°F. We recommend using a Scotts® spreader to apply this product (please refer to spreader settings on product label). Water daily or as needed to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall. One 2.4 lb. bag of Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Tall Fescue Mix has a new lawn coverage of 200 sq. ft. and an overseeding coverage of 600 sq. ft.
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
How to Use
Prep New Lawns
- Rake area to loosen the top layer of soil (approximately 2"" deep) and remove any dead grass or debris, ensuring seed-to-soil contact.
Overseeding
- Mow lawn at the lowest setting and bag the clippings. Rake to remove debris, dead grass, and loosen the soil, ensuring seed-to-soil contact.
Apply
- Use a Scotts® spreader to apply the seed at the recommended spreader setting.
Rake
- Lightly rake the seed into the soil to ensure seed is covered just beneath the soil surface.
WHEN AND WHERE TO USE
Where Not to Use
- Do not apply near water, storm drains or drainage ditches.
When to Apply
- This grass seed mix should be planted in spring or fall when daily average soil temperatures are consistently between 60°F and 75°F, or air temperatures are between 65°F and 85°F.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Watering Tips
- Lawn seed should be watered daily or as needed to keep the soil moist for at least 3 weeks or until seedlings reach 2 inches in height.

Thick Green Grass
Finally the grass seeds have germinated. What a look! I have thick lush green grass from these seeds. It took some time for all of the seeds to germinate because I have lots of trees in my yard. It tends to hold water when it rains and I water on a regular basis. However, I believe keeping the seeds moist, as directed on the bag, is key to the results I have.

Grew fast and tall
I used the tall fescue in a small area of my yard that i had done a repair in. I used the seed on a Sunday and by the following week I already was getting small sprouts. In 4 weeks i reseeded and now its been 7 weeks and you can barely tell work had been done in that spot.

‘Go To’ for all Lawn Repairs
We aerated / seeded the last week in August. Three weeks later and after the first mow, a few patchy areas near edging, pavers and where dogs may do their business were spot seeds using my two “go to” repair products; Scotts tall fescue grass seed and Scotts Turf Builder Lawn Soil. Ten days or so later, we have an inch or more growth in all areas spot treated.
These two products take the worry out of lawn repair needs and highly recommend for spot seeding after fall aeration/seeding and in the spring to spot repair if needed.

Great seed will keep using it
This is the second bag of this grass seed that I got, and it's working just as well as my first bag. Ive been using good dirt to plant it, but I wonder if I even have to because of the fertilizer that's included. It grows super fast and thick, would recommend.

Easy to apply product. Easy to follow instructions right on the product bag. I have used this product numerous times & even use the Scott's app that helps me create a plan for my personal yard. A must have in your garage stock.

Excellent grass seed
I just prepped my yard for fall weather, I first dispatched and spread out Scott’s grass seed and then fertilized. And two weeks later I’m getting new grass. I highly recommend using Scotts grass seed for a nice green lawn.

Easy To Use
This is pretty straighforward and the bag let me know exactly what setting to put on my spreader to lay seed. The bag is quite large and I just needed to go over some empty spaces in our yard so it worked perfectly for us. The seed is already making it appearance and appears healthy thus far. It seems to have improved our ground a bit and really made a difference with growth in the bare spots. Overall, I'm happy to have used this product and with familiarity with the brand and this experience I would recommend the product to others.
