description

Treat weeds and feed your lawn with Scotts® Turf Builder® WinterGuard® Fall Weed & Feed3 in the fall for a better lawn next spring. This weed killer plus lawn fertilizer controls over 50 listed lawn weeds, including clover, dandelion, plantain, morningglory, chicory, eveningprimrose, and purslane. In addition, it delivers the nutrients needed to help recover from damage from the summertime and build strong roots to take on harsh winter conditions. Apply Scotts® Turf Builder® WinterGuard® Fall Weed & Feed3 on a calm day when weeds are actively growing and temperatures are consistently between 60°F and 90°F. Make sure your grass is moist from dew or sprinkling, as this helps particles adhere to weed leaves to produce the best results. We recommend using a Scotts® spreader to apply this product. For Scotts® broadcast/rotary spreaders, use a setting of 3 1/2. For Scotts® drop spreaders, use a setting of 6. Do not water your lawn for 24 hours after application. This lawn care product is for use on Bahiagrass, Bermudagrass, Bluegrass, Centipedegrass, Fescue, Ryegrass, and Zoysiagrass. Do not apply to St. Augustinegrass (including Floratam), Dichondra, Lippia, Carpetgrass, or Bentgrass. One 11.43 lb. bag covers 4,000 sq. ft.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Shrinkflation Agree with David. Shrink bag and increase price? I will buy something else after being a LOYAL customer for 34 years. If you would have kept the 15k bag and raised it a little, we would have a deal. Bye bye.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Shrink the bag and raise the price? No thanks! Bags shrinking and price rising. We’ve all become familiar with shrinkflation, but the size decrease and price increase appear out of touch. Time to rethink my previous brand loyalty. There are similar products available with a more palatable price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from fertilizer this fertilizer sucks it burned my lawn in spots I can't believe scotts I've used other scotts products before with good results

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Scotts shrink- flation I normally purchase 5 bags of fall weed and feed. I will be buying zero this year. Scott's must think we are idiots.....shrinking the coverage size from 15,000 square feet to 12,000 and charging over $20 more per bag!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Greedy Thieves I’ve been using Scott’s products for as long as I’ve owned my home. The results have always been “good enough.” This year the fall fertilizer is several dollars more expensive, AND the bag is 25% smaller. So now I had to decide which section of my backyard won’t get fed so I don’t have to buy a 12k bag and leave an extra 7k sitting in my shed. It’s bad enough when your orange juice shrinks, but smaller bags of fertilizer just don’t work for consumers. Our lawns haven’t gotten any smaller. This was my last year using Scott’s products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not recommended - wet clumps of fertilizer I bought the large sized bag inside Home Depot to avoid any moisture-previous bags from outside had clumps. Confirmed the bag had no cuts & stored it inside. Followed all instructions on the label-mowing, temp, watered lawn: -Poured top of the of bag-had a few clumps, but spreadable -The rest was moist and clumpy, clogging the spreader -Spread rest by hand-covered 1/2 the lawn Not a Home Depot issue-bag was sealed + stored inside. Either Scotts’ packaging absorbs moisture or fertilizer was wet when sealed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Works great but way too expensive I been using scott's for atleast 10 years. I was using a service at one point but it was expensive and you had to keep an eye on the workers. The lawn looked a lot better when I took over. But now Scott's got greedy and the bags went from 5,000sq ft to 4,000. 5,000 waa perfect for my lawn. So now I have to buy the bigger bag that went from 15,000 sq ft to 12,000. After doing the numbers, I think it will be cheaper to go back to the service. Im really bummed and disapointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Put down in the spring and grass seemed to do great. Right now I have never had so much crab grass in all the years I’ve been working on my lawn.dont recommend. Now I’m not sure what to do to prepare for winter and seeding for fall 😩

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed A past loyal customer of Scott’s. Like others on here the “Do not use on St. Augustine” was in fine print. I wish y’all would have listened two years ago when the lady suggested putting something on front warning or saying for certain grasses only. Half an acre of grass destroyed and all the time and money I put into it wasted. My fault but still very disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Name to Feed the weeds Put this down on my lawn and I my weeds doubled this spring. Should be renamed to feed the weeds. Product is awful. Now I’m in the process of having to kill off my entire lawn.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I don't recommend this product I bought this three weeks ago and yard still discolored and have weeds too. They don't tell you about the guarantee, lol. You need a copy of the receipt, and write the case number by the UPC. I mean after you use a product you generally throw the bag away. So there guarantee I'd crap. Worst of all, I used two bags with the same crapy results

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Use for very few grasses. I bought this product in the fall of 2023. I did not buy from local stores. So i went online and purchased the product. When I received the product, I did not see in the fine print on the back of the bag to not use on centipede and carpet grass. So needless to say, now that spring has started, my grass has been killed by the product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Found it much cheaper at a store, very sad and you would think that it would be the cheapest at the company that makes it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from (((Buyer Beware))) Weeds will fourish After 30 years of using Scott's products, I am writing a review to claim that I will never use Scott's brand of products ever again. After spending a fortune on "weed and feed" only to have many weeds that never go away and only seem to multiply, I am done with this company. My neighbors all complain of the same problem. To make matters worse, the company has reduced the size of their bags while increasing the prices. What a shame this company has no ingreity or pride to put out a product that actuallly works for a fair price, taking advantage of people and abusing their "good name". Eyes rollling. After reading all of the complaints, I expect the same recycled standard response from Scott's - a name you used to be able to trust but no more.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Read the fine print before applying I bought this to use on my lawn, unfortunately they put what types of grass not to use it on in very small writing on the back after the directions. Hoping I didn’t just kill my entire lawn. The warnings should come first or labeled on front for types of lawns.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Shrinkflation !!!! Dissatisfied customer Product has always been 14.29lbs/5000 sq/ft It has now been downsized to 11.43lbs/4000 sq/ft a 20% reduction in volume without the 20% reduction in cost from Home Depot You should be ashamed for such deceptive practices. Classic example of shrinkflation, it should be illegal

Rated 1 out of 5 by from TIme to move on I was raised in a home with all Scotts Products....Now a homeowner for 20yrs, I have always used Scotts on my lawn all year round. I am leaving a review because I am so disappointed in the Scotts Fertilizers Summer and Winter. First the PRICE is OUTRAGEOUS! $95 for one bag of Winterguard is robbery. In the Summer the fertilizers was completely clumped...burnt my lawn and I had more dandelions than I have ever seen in life. totally not buying next year

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Directions on bag and product details on web do no How is it that in the text description for using a spreader it says to use setting 6 but on the picture of the bag's actual direction it says to use a setting of 7 1/4. So which is it? Does anyone proof read your publications? Not good. Show me where I am mistaken and I will retract. The option to add photos at the bottom of this page is not working.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Happy Less product , more money! Disappointed customers mostly get computer generated responses . See ya Scott’s , I’ll be using True Green in the future.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sucks I will never use this product again. I started in the spring and ended on the fall, did not kill one weed that it advertised. It use to be great… used it for years. Don’t know what they did to it? In my options it just a lot of fillers.
Date published: 2023-10-15
Rated 1 out of 5 by from burned my grass I purchased several bags of this product and followed the instructions and applied it to both my front and back yards with a scotts spreader and there were burn spots everywhere and some of the grass died. I had used this product last year and it did not burn my grass but this year it burned a huge portion of my lawns

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Price is robbery!!! The price of Scott’s products is out of control! This industry needs to be regulated. Scott’s accounts and leadership is laughing all the way to the bank while homeowners budgets are suffering.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only greened my lawn up but killed no weeds I purchased 3 large bags of the Scotts Triple Action in the spring and applied it exactly per the instructions and still have as many weeds as I had when I applied it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't do what it claimed I applied this 10 day ago. Did it in the morning so the dew helped the powder stick. The fertilizer obviously works. Both grass and weeds are going strong. No impact on clover, violets, creeping charlie, or any of the other weeds. If I'd wanted just fertilizer I'd have bought pure TurfBuilder, as we've had great success with Stotts products for years, but this is the first time using Winterguard, and it's an epic fail. 3 acres,

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Availability Was a good product, but now it is only found in small packages, at retailers, and this is not economical for lawns larger than a postage stamp. Scott's is leaving the full-sized lawn business to it's competitors ...and they have plenty of competitors. So, I now move to other manufacturers, which will include all of my lawn needs. Scotts may find that you cannot shrink your way to growth.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wrong product for grasd Have always used scotts products. Usually dont do weed and feed but got this for fall. Package has pic of grass on front that is a broadleaf grass like st augustine. Only after applying did i read in small print on the back that its not for st. Augustine.. immediatly watered and hoping it doesnt kill my lawn. Take the pic off the front of the package! This small bag cost me $40!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product clogs scotts drop spreader on wet lawn Directions recommend applying to a wet lawn. After a few passes with my scotts drop spreader, it clogged and it’s hard to accurately tell the amount of product that actually made it to the lawn. I will try again in about a month on a dry lawn.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bonuses not working for me I'm not very happy with the bonus s. I used it once on my lawn and I still had the weed to clover and rag weeds and that kind of stuff. It never killed it now I read and it said to use it again in a couple of months which I did and with no success. Still have the weeds. They're not dying. I bought another bag then I'm going to use this winter. Am I doing something wrong? I'm putting it down the way the bag says. I live in Southern South Carolina and I'm not sure. I'm making sure I'm not using it when it's over 90° and the '80s I use it. Please help
