description

Treat weeds and feed your lawn with Scotts® Turf Builder® WinterGuard® Fall Weed & Feed3 in the fall for a better lawn next spring. This weed killer plus lawn fertilizer controls over 50 listed lawn weeds, including clover, dandelion, plantain, morningglory, chicory, eveningprimrose, and purslane. In addition, it delivers the nutrients needed to help recover from damage from the summertime and build strong roots to take on harsh winter conditions. Apply Scotts® Turf Builder® WinterGuard® Fall Weed & Feed3 on a calm day when weeds are actively growing and temperatures are consistently between 60°F and 90°F. Make sure your grass is moist from dew or sprinkling, as this helps particles adhere to weed leaves to produce the best results. We recommend using a Scotts® spreader to apply this product. For Scotts® broadcast/rotary spreaders, use a setting of 3 1/2. For Scotts® drop spreaders, use a setting of 6. Do not water your lawn for 24 hours after application. This lawn care product is for use on Bahiagrass, Bermudagrass, Bluegrass, Centipedegrass, Fescue, Ryegrass, and Zoysiagrass. Do not apply to St. Augustinegrass (including Floratam), Dichondra, Lippia, Carpetgrass, or Bentgrass. One 11.43 lb. bag covers 4,000 sq. ft.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Turf Builder - my first time use I have used other Scotts products such as Ortho Weed B Gone Max on my creeping jenny. Because of the success of the Ortho I purchased a bag of Turf Builder for my fall fertilizing. I have heard from neighbors that I will see a real difference next spring on the greening of my grass and some of the broadleaf weeds will be killed off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Helps the lawn bounce back This product really helps the lawn come back in the spring after the winter, even a long winter in the Midwest. It helps everything grow in thick and strong in the spring. It's one of the last things I do before I say goodbye to my lawn when the snow is on its way.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Scotts Products Are the Best I use this product every year to not only fertilize my grass but to prevent weeds before spring starts. It is easy to apply and does a good job on most of my weeds. I only use Scott's products because I know I am getting good quality all the time. I only wish this product did a better job of preventing Spurge, which is a problem every year in my area which is Central Valley California.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works very well on our lawn Very happy with Scotts winterguard turf builder and weed control! It has helped us with our 2 acre lot, to keep weeds under control & grass gowing very thick! Works quickly! Only negative would be the cost since we need to use so many bags!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Restored Our Lawn This product has been great in restoring our lawn in past fall seasons. We have applied again for this season and the grass already looks better after our near drought summer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Product We used this last year and will use it again this year. I saw a great improvement in my spring lawn after applying this turf builder. I have noticed I get better results using Scotts vs other brands.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great way to get a head start on spring lawn feeding lawn with this product each winter helps the lawn to start out healthy in the spring and prevents most types of weeds

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good fertilizer Didn't kill the weeds too good. Really made the grass green.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Again, weed control not quite what I expected. Applied almost three weeks ago and the lawn looks good, but not a lot of change with respect the the weeds. Perhaps the true effects will be more noticeable in the Spring. Bought what was labled as a 12000 sq ft bag at Sam's and 5k bag at Lowe's and the spreader settings were slightly different; old product still out on the street?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lots of Lumps The product worked well - but it took extra work as the bag was hard packed and product was all stuck together. I had to break up all the lumps before I could put it in and run it through the spreader.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is probably a good product, but...... I am still waiting for the product to produce results. However, it has been dry here in the midwest. It killed some weeds right away, but left others standing (product was applied to a dry lawn). This product recommends a wet lawn to applied to so that the particles will attach themselves to the weed leaves for weed control. I had a lot of lumps in the two bags and had to break them up for spreader to work properly. Final judgement will have to made this next spring (2013).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Thick Green Lawn I used this product in the Fall. This Spring I have no dandelions and my lawn is thick and green.I will use it again this Fall.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Shrinkflation The product is great, but the 5K sq foot bag shrunk to 4k sq feet since the last time I purchased it. I’m sure it’s also more expensive, but I can not confirm. Either way, I mulled it over and I plan to return the bag I purchased and just let the weeds go wild. Wake up corporate America…our wages aren’t keeping up with your increases…there is a breaking point!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Shame on you! Great move Scott's. Shrink the bags and charge more. Did you not think there wouldn't be any backlash and the loss of product users? Bad enough you add tons of fillers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Don't play games with the size of bags and price Overall, I am satisfied with Scotts lawn fertilizer, however, like others have observed, the size of the bags have been reduced from 5,000 sq ft to 4,000 sq ft, and from 15,000 sq ft to 12,000 sq ft., and the prices have not decreased, but increased. Since most of our lawns have not decreased in size by -20%, maybe Scotts should not have reduced the size of the fertilizer bags -20%. We expect a certain quality standard from Scotts and will pay for a good quality product, even it the price has to increase due to raw materials, but don't reduce the size to mitigate the price. Just because the food companies are doing this doesn't mean Scotts should. Scotts has a longstanding reputation, don't compromise it by playing these games. Give the customer what they have come to expect, and need, at a fair price.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Review before I bought and glad I did I’ve been using Scott products for many years. Was about to go and buy fall winter guard because I’ve never needed, but a harsh summer and many weeds making their way throughout my yard I wanted to research and check reviews. I’ll won’t get, but still use other Scott’s lawn products. I hoping my weed growth this year is extremely higher and that was with using my normal annual treatments with Scott products

Rated 3 out of 5 by from SHRINKFLATION So, 12,000 square feet is the new 15,000. Sneaky move. No way this was based on "customer feedback" as no right thinking customer would want this. The product remains good (I've used it for many years) but thinly camouflaged price hikes are unwelcome. Would have been a 5 star review based on product alone, but two demerits for marketing arrogance and customer aggravation. I hope you're listening as I see from other reviews that I'm not alone.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed! I'm disappointed in the smaller bag sizes. I used to buy one 15,000 sq. ft. bag for my lawn. The new size is 12,000 sq. ft. for more money. I'm now looking at alternative products to take care of my lawn.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beware! Bags are smaller I’ve been a Scott’s customer for 20 years and my lawn always looks nice. But, the 5000 sq. ft bag was always enough for my lawn. After I was 80% done and I ran out I noticed the bag is now 4000 sq. ft. Luckily I always do my front yard first and ran out in the back so I only I can see it and be disappointed. What was Scott’s thinking behind making the bag smaller? Do they want us to pay $80 for the bigger bag? I How do I keep half a bag in my 1 car garage for a year without it getting in the way or getting hard? Bad move on the marketing department. They’ve lost a loyal customer

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bag size Excellent product however, I am upset with the smaller size bag. It use to come in 15000 SF bag. I refuse to pay an extra $40 fo a 5000sf bag.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mixed results...1 bag good, the other not so much Ordered two bags of the product. One bag, was fine and worked wonderfully. The other had gotten moisture in it and was clumpy, sandy, not useable at all. Responded to customer support and they suggested that clumping occurs, but should not affect the product once clumps have been broken up. Bag 2 would not spread. As such had to toss bag 2..

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Worked well but not well enough I received this product to test and the results were fair but I expected better, winter weeds in the south are real trouble This summer I killed my back yard lawn putting in a pool, started a new lawn, the weeds showed up as usual, I laid down this product as directed, but had come back with other products afterwards, but I will use again because the grass does look strong and healthy

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Self-explanatory title is good I received this product about a month ago and used it at that time. In the last four weeks I do see new grass and the grass overall looks healthier I believe there are fewer weeds then there were before I use this treatment but I cannot be sure as it is winter in the weeds are dying anyway. The grass looks better than it did a month ago.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good packaging Unfortunately this product was delivered later then I anticipated for a fall application that I can provide an accurate performance review. I had just applied a Scott’s product a few days before it arrived . I can say that the product’s packing is well designed for handling and very informative on how the apply it for optimum results and safety.
