description

Treat weeds and feed your lawn with Scotts® Turf Builder® WinterGuard® Fall Weed & Feed3 in the fall for a better lawn next spring. This weed killer plus lawn fertilizer controls over 50 listed lawn weeds, including clover, dandelion, plantain, morningglory, chicory, eveningprimrose, and purslane. In addition, it delivers the nutrients needed to help recover from damage from the summertime and build strong roots to take on harsh winter conditions. Apply Scotts® Turf Builder® WinterGuard® Fall Weed & Feed3 on a calm day when weeds are actively growing and temperatures are consistently between 60°F and 90°F. Make sure your grass is moist from dew or sprinkling, as this helps particles adhere to weed leaves to produce the best results. We recommend using a Scotts® spreader to apply this product. For Scotts® broadcast/rotary spreaders, use a setting of 3 1/2. For Scotts® drop spreaders, use a setting of 6. Do not water your lawn for 24 hours after application. This lawn care product is for use on Bahiagrass, Bermudagrass, Bluegrass, Centipedegrass, Fescue, Ryegrass, and Zoysiagrass. Do not apply to St. Augustinegrass (including Floratam), Dichondra, Lippia, Carpetgrass, or Bentgrass. One 11.43 lb. bag covers 4,000 sq. ft.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Scotts Products The only Scotts that do not work for me is the crab grass preventer and the summer guard. The crab grass never works as it continues to take over my yard every year. I follow the directions and it still grows wildly. If I put the summer guard down, it is like steroids for the crab grass. The regular all around weed killer is good for weeds but does nothing for the crab grass.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from instructions are illogical and counter productive I have no idea what is going to happen, But i can tell you if you wet the lawn as they suggest and then use a drop spreader within a 3 to 5000 square ft many of the openings will be clogged, ( due to the moisture and the fact that you just wet the lawn, duh) So you will have a very uneven application. I have no idea what the result will be and welcome if anyone can explain to me what I am missing, Or if i am correct and their instructions are wrong, at least for a drop spreader. I am very disappointed that i followed their instructions, I intuitively knew it was a mistake

Rated 3 out of 5 by from To early to tell...... I am writing to simply ask if I can seed after putting this product down? If so what is the recommended wait time? Also, is it safe to use starter fertilizer?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from My expectations may be too high. Having treated my lawn with the liquid version in July and August with little effect, I treated my lawn with the fall formula 2 weeks ago this morning. I had mowed the evening before. After 10 days I did finally start seeing a response to all the chemicals I've put down - some of the crabgrass is starting to brown. The Spotted spurge has not been effected at all, nor any of the other seasonal weeds. The lawn was very wet from morning dew when the dry fertilizer was applied. The lawn has had 4 other mornings of heavy morning dew. Maybe the lawn has been too dry for the weed control properties to take hold. I used a 34lb bag for approx 9K sq ft of lawn.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It did kill some of the weeds and the green up looked pretty good. I plan on using the pro wintergaurd in the fall of 2012 to see if i can get better results. What i thought was grass was actually weeds, i plan on having a thick green lawn with less weeds in know time, I really like your products.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Small bags, poor results. I was in the Scott's program for years with good results. This year was very poor and like others have mentioned it coincided with the bags being much smaller. I gave it 2 stars mainly because in past years it worked well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Do not waste your money on this product I bought this product about 3-4 weeks ago. I put it on my lawn, exactly as directions stated. It did not kill any weeds. Matter of fact-the weeds are looking healthier! I have used Scott’s products for many years. I am disappointed. This is a waste of my hard earned money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This product didn't work as advertised. This is part of my treatment plan. I applied it as directed early in the morning when my grass was wet with morning dew. It didn't kill the clover growing in my lawn.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Direct Delivery was frustrating I enjoyed using the Scotts product and having it delivered to my house. I purchased bags which covered 18000 sq ft. The shipments didn't arrive together. I would receive a portion then the remainder would arrive 3 or 4 weeks later. This went on for the last 2 years and was very frustrating so i cancelled the direct delivery. With the price increase and the new bag shrinkage, I will be shopping for a more affordable product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Clumps and Clogs Too many clumps in the bag, with a setting of 3 1/2 the spreader opening clogs.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Change in size of the weed and feed. Always purchase the small yard quantity of the 4 step Scotts. Just received my order today and all but the weed and feed are 5,000 square feet. The weed and feed is 4,000 square feet. 5,000 is perfect. Need to look at other manufacturer's product next year. When will the other products see a size reduction? Doesn't make sense to have 2 different sizes.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fall fertilizer with weed killer I am in North Texas fort Worth Dallas area and this fall fertilizer weed killer does not work here. I wish y'all could come up with a formula that would kill out the fall weeds. We love the bonus s in the spring, but we're having heck here with the weeds this fall. I really miss the winterizer that you had. It worked much better

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Weeds are still as green as the grass. I bought this product about a month ago and applied as directed. The grass is very green as well as all the weeds. Not what I would expect from a Scotts product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Violets are still blue The grass fertilizer great; growing nice and thick. The wild violets are also growing; they are not shriveling at all.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Won’t kill weeds Followed all directions. Greened my lawn … did not kill weeds/clover. 3weeks later, same weeds and clover. Very disappointed

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Long time user sees quality issue this season I have 32k sq ft of land, and every year I use 4 to 5 applications of Scotts (Halts, Weed and Feed, Summer guard, fall and then Winter). If you buy it at Lowes, 99.9% of the time the product is garbage, it's wet or dirty bags. Home Depot or Ace has cleaner product. But anyway, I get tons of compliments on my lawn every year, but this year, not impressed. Lots of weeds even though Weed and Feed was applied, so product quality lacked. Plus the bags went from 15k to 12k, and the price went up at the same time. I'll be finishing out the year with scotts in hopes quality will change next year.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from SoSo Not much change noted in weeds. The grass is a little greener. Not worth the price.
Date published: 2021-12-13
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Should be called Feed the Weeds I bought this at Lowes 2 weeks ago. Applied under good conditions, post rain. Fertilizer works great. The lawn is starting to green up again. However, my yard has even more clover than it did before, which also seems to be thriving.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Does not get rid of clover or dandelions I have been trying the 4 step process consistently for 3 years now. I follow the directions to the letter and keep in mind the temperature. I cannot get rid of the clover in my lawn and it has worked on half the dandelions. I am going back to hiring a professional company to take care of the weeds. This is a total waste of money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I havent any luck with the Scott's Products I purchased the complete lawn care throughtout the year and everytime I use the products it burns my lawn. My entire lawn need reseeding not sure why I continued to purchase. I thought maybe I was applying it wrong. Nope followed the instructions everytime. My water bill is through the roof trying to water and keep it looking decent after it burns my lawn. I speaking of the Lawn Food, Summerguard, Weed and Feed and now the Fall Weed and Feed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Read the content label Did you know that Scotts now uses the same bag and description but actually varies the chemical content from store to store? I purchased a 15k bag of the Turf Builder Winter Guard Plus 2 at a big box hardware store and discovered it was 28-0-3. The exact same 15 bag of Turf Builder Winter Guard Plus 2 a quarter mile down the street a major big box department store is 26-2-12. The 26-2-12 is typically a better product for Fall/Winter feedings to invigorate root growth. In addition, the big box hardware store has 15,000 square foot bags of Turf Builder Plus 2 (chemical content 28-0-4) for a substantial savings over the the Winter Guard plus 2. Again, this is the same store selling the Winter Guard Plus 2 that has the 28-0-3 product. That may not make much sense...but, that is what they are doing. In other words and in my opinion of the products available at this particular big box hardware store, the regular Turf Builder Plus 2 is a slightly better product for your fall/winter feeding. In my opinion, the best Scotts product for your lawn is the Turf Builder Winter Guard Plus 2 with the content of 26-2-12. Don't be fooled by the identical bags...read the label! I would also like to add that Scotts products still seem to provide superior and more even greening/feeding. But, they don't seem to kill the weeds as well as they did in the past. I have used Scotts products for over 30 years.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Srinkflation I bought this product yesterday and didn’t realize it’s only 12k sq ft a bag! Where’s the 15k? Same price but 20% less product. No good Scotts!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from You can NOT apply this, the granules are horrible I bought this today and the consistency to apply in a spreader is appalling. The first 3rd was okay at best, the second third was huge chunks that would not break apart and the last third was the perfect consistency for making snowballs and would never work in a spreader (I just threw it out by hand)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Clumpy and the ratio has changed Ive used Scott's fertilizer for years. I'm in ohio and now we are October using a clumped up fertilizer? This happened to me last year as well but last year I just thought I bought a bad bag. So here we are again same issue alongside of the fertilizer feeding my weeds to grow not my grass. Clumps!? I'm switching! Any suggestions?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Square footage bags wrong common size Scotts what happened to bag size for yards at 5000sf, I used to be able to buy on SALE all seasonal bags for Spring late sprig summer, fall, winter, now you offer at 4000sf, that's too small and I'm not buying 2 bags for 8000sf, I will look at other products now
