Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware, it kills Hostas I used this product end of March 2020 to prevent crabgrass taking over our front yard and Hostas bed of 20 very large Patriots Hostas that we about to bloom. By end of May, only 4 survived and 16 died and their bulbs disintegrated

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointment I used the Halts Crabgrass & Grassy Weed Preventer. My lawn has always been luxurious. This spring, March/April 2020, I noticed Poa Annua starting to spread so I tried Halt. Only 1 store in the Seattle area had 3 bag. I bought all 3. My yard is a disaster now, killed much more than weeds and Poa Annua. Not sure what caused this. I am going to stick with plain Turf Builder and Ortho's Weed b Gon. I am so disgusted I may have to re-sod my back yard to the tune of $800 just so I can enjoy my summer on the patio. I stand behind Scott's products and have for 40 years, but not this one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Scott’s Crabgrass Preventer I have used Scott’s products for many years, but used this product to get rid of the crabgrass in my front yard. Used exactly like directions said with zero results. Total waste of money!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Scotts HALTS doesn't halt anything Spent $500.00 on this stuff and because it was such an investment followed instructions to a T. Bought a rolling tape measure and mapped out 5000 square foot plots, one bag one plot. put it down and came back in two months REPEAT. My lawn is as bad or worse than the year before when I'd just purchased the property and it had nothing on it. This stuff does absolutely ZERO for sandspurs!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does NOT work on Poa Annua I live on the eastern side of Virginia (Williamsburg) where the temperatures are still normally in the low to mid 70s still during the month of October. Last Spring (2018), I had a huge infestation of this seedy grass (Poa Annua) which pretty much destroyed my back yard. To prevent this from happening this year (2019), I applied two bags of Scott's Crabgrass & Grassy Weed Preventer during mid-October of 2018. Did not work AT ALL at "preventing" the Poa Annua from growing again this year. I have Poa Annua sprouting up all over my back yard again, and some in my front yard. I've become pretty tired of "trying out" Scotts products only to get terrible results.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money I have been gardening for over 40 years. I have always used Scotts products. This year I tried the Crabgrass preventer and grassy weeds for the first time around February/March - Before any signs of Crabgrass and my Bermuda had not greened up. My yard is loaded with Crabgrass. Applied product as directed. Now I have to find something that will kill the Crabgrass if possible without killing my lawn in this heat/summer now.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It killed my ENTIRE lawn! I have a two year old bermuda lawn [well, I used to have]. After putting down this weed "preventer", it prevented my lawn from growing. It killed my entire front lawn but the weeds are growing well. Of course if you complain to Scotts, they'll find some reason it's your fault - one grain too much, too early, too late, too bright, too dry, etc and they diddley darn sure aren't going to give me a new lawn are they?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not do s--- for the Poa Annua! Bought specifically for the poa annua, and had the healthiest stand of poa annua in the neighborhood. Crabgrass I could deal with, but the poa made my winter yard look awful. My brother, my nephew , all had poa like me and they also had no results. Will not purchase any more.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Scotts Turfbuilder with Halts Used Halts w Turfbuilder on 4/20 and again on 6/5 and got more crabgrass than last year in the regular places. I should think the supplement on 6/5 should have stopped the July crabgrass?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just applied for spring I live in Atlanta with Bermuda grass. I downloaded the new app (my lawn). I applied the Halts Crabgrass on 2/19/17 when I started noticing some crabgrass and weeds starting to grow. This product seem to feed the crabgrass and weeds after a week, resulting into larger weeds now. I followed all the directions that were listed on the bag and app. I just had to go buy Weed b gone spray to kill everything growing to hopefully slow it down. Not sure if this is better to use in the late fall or what but applying it now in the early early stages of spring didn't work for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Little to no effect on weeds The Scotts Weed and Feed performed very poorly on weed control. Had Henbit in yard and did not kill it. Ordered Ortho product which is performing very nicely. Fertilizer portion seems to be working.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The crabgrass and grassy weeds are still presant....it didn't work at all I purchased two 5000 sq. ft. bags, i applied to the lawn as directed, and.....nothing, the product does not work.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Save Your money Don't bother using this product. You are better off spending it on weed and feed and seed. Seed bare spots and fertilize so that good healthy turf chokes out the crabgrass and other weeds that the crabgrass preemergent claims to halt. I wave used thid product for two years with no noticable decrease in the few crabgrass clumps that I have

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Scotts Southern weed and feed I used your product Scotts Southern Weed and Feed and it did nothing to the weeds. I followed the exact instructions on the bag.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Results I've used Scotts products in various regions of the country for over forty years and have been satisfied until this last year. I registered on their website for my zip code and results I wanted. Spread the product down as instructed with absolutely no results. This, also, happened to a certain extent with Turf Builder Plus 2. There is absolutely no weed killing results with these products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very confusing timing recommendation I applied this Sept 21, 2015 as recommended (Fall) in Atlanta with proper amount/sq ft. My yard is full of Poa Annua this late winter. I am sorely disappointed. On careful scrutiny of your website under Poa Annua control I see a different recommendation of application in August or early September. Why was this information not supplied with the product label?! BTW, lots of your products have conflicting timing recommendations- Not very helpful to customers! Your lawn recommendations are very confusing and at times conflict with other areas of your website- again, not helpful.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Poor Results I applied Halts the first week of Sept for control of winter weeds. I purchased 2 bags. I might as well broadcasted weed seeds my yard is covered in winter grass and henbit and chick weed.. Dont waste your hard earned dollars on this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not Work I applied the product according to the instructions early April. I even contacted customer service to be sure it was not to late. The crabgrass starting coming in early August. I have never had so much. I will be going back to my local lawn service next year.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not work as advertised Attempted to use in NE Florida over the past 3yrs with the recommended application rates and periodicity...continue to have crabgrass problems and must resort to the baking soda trick to get rid of what should have been prevented.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product has not worked to prevent crabgrass. I applied Halts crabgrass preventer exactly according to the directions. I ended up with a lot of crabgrass, just as much as when I did not use a crabgrass preventer. I like other Scotts products very well and will continue using them, but I will not use Halts again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work I miss the original Halts. It devistated the crab grass. My entire small backyard is 95% crabgrass and used as directed since March...I still have a crabgrass lawn. I believe the mix must have changed or has filler in it...or active ingrediant is far less so you have to spend $100's on bags of the material to really see a difference. Perhaps it Prevents new sprouts but it does not kill it like it used to. And don't you hate when you have to register and give all kinds of personal information just to leave a review ?
