Precautions
- Don't use on newly seeded grass lawns until after the fourth mowing. On newly sprigged areas, wait five months before application.
- Don't plant grass seed for four growing months or sprig an area for five months after use of this product.
- Don't apply more frequently than twice a year. Allow at least a two month interval between applications.
- Don't rake or aerify after application, as the Halts(R) chemical barrier in the soil will be disturbed.

Nonrefillable container. If empty: Do not reuse or refill this container. Place in trash or offer for recycling if available. If partly filled: Call your local solid waste agency for disposal instructions. Never place unused product down any indoor or outdoor drain.

Description
Scotts® Halts® Crabgrass & Grassy Weed Preventer prevents the germination of listed lawn weeds so you can enjoy your lawn. In early spring, apply when lawn is dry to prevent the germination of crabgrass, foxtail, spurge, barnyardgrass, fall panicum, goosegrass* and oxalis all season long (*for goosegrass control, repeat application in 8 weeks). Apply in the fall (August-October) to prevent moss (except in California), or to prevent the germination of Poa annua, henbit, corn speedwell, and chickweed. Scotts® Halts® Crabgrass & Grassy Weed Preventer is for use on all lawns and grass types (with the exception of Dichondra or Bentgrass lawns). Rain, snow, or freezing weather after application will not affect the performance of this product. Please note, this product controls crabgrass in its early stages of growth. It does not control mature crabgrass and other existing weeds. One 10.06 lb. bag of Scotts® Halts® Crabgrass & Grassy Weed Preventer covers 5,000 sq. ft.

We use Scotts lawn products every year including this Scotts Halts Crabgrass preventer. We don’t have any crabgrass growing in our yard. It’s easy to apply to your lawn with a spreader. It works and we definitely recommend it.

Crabgrass Preventer
I was glad to see this product available on-line. Our local hardware stores and even the big box stores did not have this in stock when I needed to apply the weed preventer. I'm hoping this will make an impact on the crabgrass this year.

All Scott’s products for my yard.
I’ve been using this product for three years now and love the results. I also use other Scott’s products and My grown children call my yard, Little Augusta! I have 1.5 acres and after letting 2 different companies try for 5 years, (1 a national brand the other a local service), I had to take it back over myself. 31 years in my house and it just keeps getting better!

What I needed!
In Missouri, applied in August for henbit and oxalis, and again in April for crabgrass with a Classic Drop spreader on a Zoysia lawn with some bermuda invading. I finally realized I had been cutting my grass too short with a new mower and that was the reason why I was seeing more weeds every season. Both neighbors let their grass grow very tall and then mow it down really short. Problem is, their lawns are full of crabgrass by late summer and so all those seeds end up everywhere, especially along yard margins and traffic areas. This product substantially reduced the amount of crabgrass and henbit in my lawn, to the point where I could just pull out, by hand, what few there were. The oxalis does not seem to be getting any worse, and, after adjusting the mower, appears to be getting mostly choked out by the desired grass plants. Make sure to apply just before rain is forecast and make sure to overlap passes as recommended on the packaging and remember that aerating, dethatching, or anything else that disturbs the soil, will definitely reduce the effectiveness of the product. I had previously had large rafts of crabgrass by late summers, that would choke out the bermuda, and then die off in winter to leave patches of bare soil, but no more since using this product.

Halts has never failed me
Have used Halts for over 6 years now. Always applied in early spring once grass is out. My neighbor had crabgrass so started applying it to his yard. Since then, haven't seen any in our yards. Never watered it in and would apply when a good rain was coming in 4 to 5 days.

Awesome pre-emergent
Fired worthless TruGreen (3 yrs ago) after 22 years and startes doing my own lawn. Scotts grassy weed preventer stops 99% of Poa annua grass (and others) when used in Fall and again in Spring. This treatment along with Scotts Weed and Feed keep my bermuda lawn looking like Augusta National Golf Course.

It works great if used routinely
Ive been using this product 4yrs plus. I used to have a POA Annua infestation every year prior to that until I found this pre-emergent. Its not a miracle preemergent, but with routine use and manually pulling the poa that does manage to sprout, I reduced the infestation at least 99%. Now I can count on my hand the number of POA that sprout every year, its very minimal. I think it does a great job if used on a regular basis and given time to work.

This is what pros don't won't you to know about.
I was at a hardware store and I met this guy that was getting a bag and he told me this is the only kind of weed killer that he uses, and it won't kill your lawn or change the color. I got me a bag and put some on a bad patch of crabgrass and in about 7 days the crabgrass turned purple and died off while my lawn stayed green and grew through that dead crabgrass..I did had to water it in a little but that all.

This works I use it twice a year
Works! I use this twice a year. I put it down in the fall and spring. I have a mixture of grasses some warm weather ones that I do not want to fertilizer until they come out of dormancy. This product is perfect to provide weed protection without fertilizer too soon.

My Favorite preemergent!
Halts is the best preemrgent i have ever found. it is reliable every single time and as long as you hit the application window it prevents weed seeds sprouting at close to 100%. I never waste my money buying anything else it is the best!

Prevents crabgrass and Ana poa
This is a great product and it works. But it take 2 year for all crabgrass to be gone from my experience. I have been doing my yards for 40 years.
I put down in October to prevent Ana poa in the early spring and again in February to prevent summer crabgrass. I read not to cut grass 2 days before and not to cut grass 2 days after. I do water it in. Just be patient. I have done this several times in each yard and it works.

Did the job on stalk grass
My lawn was overrun with Japanese stalk grass for years. Everything I tried did not work. I started applying this in the early spring and fall. Going into my third year and the lawn looks great, Don’t waste your time on the other stuff.

Using for 30 Years Like Clock Work
I HATE crabgrass! I'm an avid gardener that has used Scotts Halts Crabgrass killer every spring, for the past 30 years! I kid you not! I've done it every since my former husband reseeded my lawn - due to crabgrass and weed infestation. I am the only person in my cul-de-sac that does not have crab grass. I swear by this stuff!

The Best Yet
Scotts Halts Crabgrass and Grassy Weed Preventer is the best I have used so far. It's easy to apply and results are usually seen with 7-10 days. I highly recommend to anyone searching for a quality as well as easy to use product.

absolutely no crabgrass
I have over 3000 sq. ft. of kentucky bluegrass and as long as I have been using thjs product I have not seen one blade of crabgrass! I will say do not wast your money on Halt's with fertilizer .. crabgrass prevention is woefully inadequate! You will also discover their are very little vendors for Halt's.. spend money for shipping

Good stuff,really works
Got this last year but just got to use it last week. Easy to use and went down as advertized. No weeds and so far no crabgrass which has been a problem for me. I think this product will do the job mainly because almost all Scotts products work as advertised.

No more crabgrass...
I use to have an area that did have some unwanted types of grass and then I put down Scotts Halts Crabgrass & Grassy Weed Preventer and it appears to have solved my grassy weed problem. There is no crabgrass growing in the area and the good grasses are growing beautifully. I will use this product next fall and next spring to try and make my whole lawn look good.

I have used Scott's Halts Crabgrass Preventer many times and can definitely see a difference in the seasons I've used it and those I have not. The best practice is just to prevent and then you don't have the irritating task of treating to rid afterwards.

Scotts® Halts® Crabgrass & Grassy Weed Preventer
I have used Turf Builder with Halts before and it worked so I thought I would try this one and see how well it does. It works fabulously. I could not be more happier with this. It stops the new weeds in it's tracks. Just make sure you apply according to the directions as too much is wasting the product. I highly recommend using this for your lawn. Oh, and don't make the same mistake I have done in the past. Never use on newly seeded lawns as this will kill the new lawn before it even gets going.

This is certainly a product we need!
Due to weather, illness, etc, we have not yet used this product. BUT with SPRING near, we will soon put this product to good use. With the results we have had with your other fine products, I know we will have great results. I will be glad to review this after we apply it. Thanks
