Precautions
- Don't use on newly seeded grass lawns until after the fourth mowing. On newly sprigged areas, wait five months before application.
- Don't plant grass seed for four growing months or sprig an area for five months after use of this product.
- Don't apply more frequently than twice a year. Allow at least a two month interval between applications.
- Don't rake or aerify after application, as the Halts(R) chemical barrier in the soil will be disturbed.
Disposal Methods
Nonrefillable container. If empty: Do not reuse or refill this container. Place in trash or offer for recycling if available. If partly filled: Call your local solid waste agency for disposal instructions. Never place unused product down any indoor or outdoor drain.

Description
Scotts® Halts® Crabgrass & Grassy Weed Preventer prevents the germination of listed lawn weeds so you can enjoy your lawn. In early spring, apply when lawn is dry to prevent the germination of crabgrass, foxtail, spurge, barnyardgrass, fall panicum, goosegrass* and oxalis all season long (*for goosegrass control, repeat application in 8 weeks). Apply in the fall (August-October) to prevent moss (except in California), or to prevent the germination of Poa annua, henbit, corn speedwell, and chickweed. Scotts® Halts® Crabgrass & Grassy Weed Preventer is for use on all lawns and grass types (with the exception of Dichondra or Bentgrass lawns). Rain, snow, or freezing weather after application will not affect the performance of this product. Please note, this product controls crabgrass in its early stages of growth. It does not control mature crabgrass and other existing weeds. One 10.06 lb. bag of Scotts® Halts® Crabgrass & Grassy Weed Preventer covers 5,000 sq. ft.

Great product
In central PA, the summers get really hot and usually dry. This product worked wonders at preventing crabgrass. This was the second year and I definitely saw an improvement from last year. I highly recommend this product.

This is a reliable product.
I find this Scotts product to be far superior than others on the market. Upon application, it seems to do the job, as far as preventing crabgrass, which is always a problem for me. I would say that since it is specifically targeted for crabgrass, it appears to be stronger than other products. Because of its reliability, I feel that I have put up a strong defense against crabgrass when I use it, and feel satisfied that it is doing the job intended. Thus, I do not have to worry about the condition of my grass, and I feel safe that I have used a product of high quality.

Super Product
This was the first year that I used this product to prevent crabgrass, which typically infests my lawn during the hot summers. I still had isolated areas, that were very small, but this was the best summer for my lawn. The lawn actually proliferated because it did not have to compete with the crabgrass. I will forever use this product as a pre-emergent crabgrass preventer. I highly recommend it; it will make your life of dealing with crabgrass so much easier.

This stuff actually works.
Apply in spring and follow up with another application 6 weeks later and u won't have to worry about crabgrass.

This is a EXELLENT Product
I apply this product one time in the spring and it last the entire summer no weeds what so ever. I highly recommend this product if you have a weed problem in your lawn.

Halts works!
I took over this house and lawn last year and as spring turned to summer, found I had several spots of crabgrass. (Central FL) I used baking soda to keep it from spreading last year and sodded the few areas that were damaged in Dec. I knew the seeds were still in the ground. The middle of Feb, I applied my first application and a second, light, application about 2 months later. I have only found a few sprigs of crabgrass that I have pulled and this around edging and curbing where I have used a string trimmer and probably broke the seed barrier I put down.
It works and I will continue to use it next year for insurance. Not expensive and does what is advertised.

Great product if apply early enough
This product is great. I have use it for the past 7 years, with a lawn that slopes. Only issue I found if any is, it has to be reapplied in south NC. I apply once about 3rd week of Feb. and again when I remember in April. If not lawn look great until the effects I guess wears off. Then watch out for late May, June, and July. I will be picking crab grass by hand. When I live in OH, MI and IL I only need to apply this pre-emergent once usally end of March early April.

Best crabgrass preventer on the market
This product does exactly as it advertises. It HALTS crabgrass. My yard get lots of compliments in the neighborhood. While the neighbors are fighting their weed problems, I'm sitting on my porch sipping lemonade.

Crabgrass be gone!
Little did I know most mainstream weed preventatives don't take care of the pesky crabgrass. After using another brand of Weed and Feed last year my yard was overgrown with weeds and crabgrass last year worse than ever! I got help through Scott's Help Center via phone and emailed them photos of the unidentified weeds in my yard. Due to the "off brand" Weed and Feed I used last year they made some recommendations for Scott's Bonus S Weed & Feed and some Halts Crabgrass Preventer and I'm seeing a huge difference this year! My grass is much thicker and the weeds are almost gone! Looking forward to Spring!!

Great Product
This is a great product to control both kinds of obnoxious crabgrass. Just make sure you apply in the seasonal time period as the product specifies for your region. This product is for serious control of crabgrass and with consistent usage you should no longer have problems. Another note, I used Round-Up Concentrate the first year ...then followed with Halts. I have not had to use Round-Up in the last 2 years, I apply Halts yearly.

Poa annua
Last year my yard had a ton of that nasty poa annua grass
I tried Scotts Halts and this year- - - NO POA ANNUA
Did put it down in Oct and again in April. Well worth the cost
I hated those light green patches that poa annua causes in my
nice yard

This product really works!
We used this product among other Scotts products . We had so much crab grass last summer that we thought we would try this. This year we have had a very small amount of crab grass compared to last year. I would recommend this product very highly!!

Scotts Halts works!
The Poa annua was out of control in my yard and got worse each year. I'd spend hours and hours trying to pull it out; regular weed killer has no affect on it. My sister told me about Halts and said to apply it in March, June, Sept. and December. The first year I did it, I noticed a tremendous improvement the following year. That was 3 years ago. I do it every year during those times now, have a great looking yard, and have passed the word around to my neighbors!

I use it in March and October to stop weed seeds from geranmating. It has helpted to stop the weeds from coming up. I use four bags every time. 20,000 ft

East to spread and goes a long ways!
This is the first time I have used the Scott’s Crabgrass and grassy weed preventer. I live in Northern Indiana and applied this product mainly for crabgrass prevention. It seems to be doing the trick.

Giving it a try
We applied this crabgrass preventer 4 weeks ago to try and help with the crabgrass in our yard and my neighbors yard but we haven’t seen much changed. I’m hoping with continued applications and consistency it will make a difference. Easy to apply and minimal smell

The Scotts Halts Crabgrass @ Grassy Weed Preventer so far has done ok with the current weeds present. I still see some in the yard in spots so hopefully once I spray them with some weed killer they will not longer be there!

Helps with weeds but I still see some crabgrass. I didn’t think this was shipped early enough since this is more of a preventative (pre-emergent), so we will have to see how it looks once it has a little more time to work.

Good but not organic
Really great for the yard we replanted. Do wish this was more organic for kids and pets but overall happy with how my lawn looks so far this spring!
