Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great 8 yr history with this product. Great product!!! I have used this for years now. My lawn was a challenge prior. It looks wonderful now. I skipped a year and definitely noticed the difference. Othe products don't compare.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've had years of success with this product I've used this product for years, and probably wouldn't have had a decent lawn without it. I apply the fertilizer along with lime twice a year - once in the very early spring and again in the fall, and have had excellent results. Probably the only other product I use during the year is Total Insect Control by BioAdvance once or twice during the late spring and summer. Often Step 1 for Seeding with Weed Control it is difficult to get, since I only have one local dealer. There was a Turf Builder version that I understand is no longer available that worked similarly. Any information as to what happened to the Turf Builder product - just curious.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! I always used Scott's products, a month ago I used step 1 the results are incredible, my lawn always looks good with a few areas that were not as green. After step 1 the lawn looks the best its looked in 38 years. A very green thick lawn got rid of any clovers. Definitely need to read the instructions and can't apply after seeding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buying More This was an important part in obtaining a green lawn in a problematic region. It doesn’t tackle stuff like stiltgrass, but helped control clover, creeping charlie, dandelion and wild strawberry. I actually used this for the whole season (every 6-8 weeks). I don’t know how others managed to bleach their lawns with this stuff—the amount if metro in this is so low, you’d really need to substantially over-apply for that to happen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great. Renovation details: Early June seeding. After using Quikpro on about 4500-5000 sq ft of Roughstalk Bluegrass (poa trivialis), I used “Step One for Seeding” to spot seed a couple dozen areas. I used Scott’s PA seed, I think it’s the same as the NE seed. Previous lawn health: My lawn mostly consists of K-31, perennial rye, and KY bluegrass. I have some warm season grasses as well, but I hate them and I’ve wiped most of them out with Q4. I’ve been killing quack grass, nimblewill, JP stiltgrass as well. Still haven’t gotten the mousear chickweed to stop coming back in the spring. Method I didn’t disturb the soil after Quikpro. I waited, watched. Hand weeded some smaller weeds and, top coated everything with mushroom soil. I Applied Scotts Step 1 Starter after rolling/seeding/strawing - probably right after the last rolling. Results: I had no whitening of any of cool season grasses. The only whitening I saw was on the nutsedge and purslane that came up. Even with the nutsedge that came up, considering, I had pretty good suppression of purslane, smartweed, chickweed, and crabgrass. It didn’t affect the oat grass in the topsoil or the mushrooms for that matter. Pretty satisfied with result, great germination, less where I had washout which isn’t the products fault.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved It and Buying More! So happy when Scotts came out with this product and it works!! Hopefully, they will come down in price once its been out awhile but saved me a lot of back breaking weed pulling so worth it. Product turns weeds a whitish color as they die so you know it is working. Fertilizer is excellent too!
