This ready-to-spray liquid starter fertilizer contains a combination of nutrients to help your new lawn grow strong roots and grow in thicker and faster than if not fed at all. The spray makes it easy to feed and water your grass at the same time, improving seeding results for a beautiful, green lawn. Scotts® Turf Builder® Starter® Food for New Grass Ready-Spray® is safe to use on any grass type. Apply anytime you're planting new grass, whether it's starting a new lawn, reseeding an existing one, or installing sod, sprigs, or grass plugs. Simply connect the bottle to a garden hose, turn on water, and spray. Make the first application once seedlings sprout, then follow with two more applications made in one week intervals. Step by Step Instructions
How to Use
- CONNECT: Connect sprayer to hose. Extend hose to farthest point of the area to be fed.
FEED: Point nozzle in the direction you want to spray. Slide thumb activation switch forward to ON position. Spray evenly over entire area, according to chart on the product label.
FINISH: When finished feeding, slide thumb activation switch backward to the OFF position. Turn off water. Relieve water pressue by sliding thumb switch to the WATER position until water slows to a drip, then switch back to OFF position.
Additional Information: Do not apply near water, storm drains, or drainage ditches. Do not apply if heavy rain is expected. Apply this product only to your lawn.

Spray from bottle only extends ~ 10 feet!?
My Dad took us from his In-Laws house to live in our own house in 1950. After a few failed experiments, he re-tilled and replanted our lawn with all Scott's products. We had the best lawn on our street, even better than the golf course who's first green was about 30 yards from our front door!
I had an in-ground gunnite/concrete pool destroyed and my backyard planted with "who knows what" a week ago and my watering has caused it to be ~3" high now, so I bought Turf Builder Starter Food for it and went to apply it this AM.
First, there are instructions telling you how much chemical to apply to what square footage of lawn, but there's no way to tell how much your using. (No clear area to see the contents and no scale to show how much has been used or what's left.)
Second, unless all of a sudden I've got the weakest water pressure ever, the spray from your bottle only goes out about 10'. How is someone supposed to cover a 50' x 40' area without stepping on and killing the newly sprouted grass without killing it.
I'm going to put the contents of your bottle into the old "upside-down" funnel shaped sprayer I've had forever, and see if next Friday I can put the second application down without having to kill the grass I'm trying to grow.
I hope it works --- at least in the area I'm able to apply it to.

A bit of redesign is in order.
I can't say how good the actual fertilizer is as I am feeding a new lawn with a happy mole population. That said, the delivery system is mediocre. Go look at one if you are not familiar with the spray bottle.
The bottle itself is well designed and the plastic feels solid. It has a well functioning on and off slider. I used it several times and it worked fine. So, what's the problem?
The way the female connector is designed, it's a bit too loose a connection to the handle. This means that if your hose puts pressure on the connector, the connector pops off the handle. You can push it back on with some good pressure. In my case, it happened again. This time the connector went back easierr but the seal was blown and water sprayed everywhere.

Dispenser is useless therefore product is useless
Comes with see-thru window to show product remaining in the bottle. 800ml to start.
After 6 minutes, product is still at 800ml. Let it run 10 more minutes just to see... Yup, still at 800ml. Paid 15 bucks to be able to water my lawn through a fancy plastic bottle.
This is supposed to cover 600sf. After 10 minutes of spraying, it ought to be empty.

Fertilizer would not engage
I followed the directions and switched to the "on" position and the fertilizer would not come out. I even let it run in the "on" position to see if the fertilizer would go down but it didn't. Pretty disappointed with the mechanics of this product and having to make an unnecessary to back to HD for a refund. At least my lawn received a good watering trying to figure this thing out.

It won't even come out of the bottle
Tried this several times, and followed directions exactly. However, the fertilizer doesn't come out of the bottle.
