DESCRIPTION

Scotts® Classic® Grass Seed Tall Fescue Mix is specially formulated for drought and disease resistance. This unique mix grows greener, thicker turf than Kentucky-31 Tall Fescue. Plus, it grows well in both sunny and shady areas. It thrives in sun, shade, and high-traffic areas, so you can be on your way to a stronger and greener lawn.

How to Use

1. PREP

  • Bare Soil: Loosen top layer of soil.
  • Dead Grass/Thin Area: Rake area and remove dead grass.
  • For best results, add a thin layer of Scotts® Turf Builder® LawnSoil™ before applying seed.

2. APPLY

  • Small Area: Spread by hand or with a Scotts® handheld spreader.
  • Large Area: Apply using a specially designed Scotts® spreader.
  • After seeding, apply Scotts® Turf Builder® Starter® Food for New Grass to boost your seed's performance for a thicker lawn that comes in quicker. Lightly rake to move the seed and fertilizer into the soil.

3. WATER

  • Keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach 2 inches tall.

4. CARE

  • Seed will begin to grow in 6 - 14 days. You can mow the seedlings when they reach 3 inches in height. Do not apply a weed control product until after at least four mowing.

When to Apply

  • Fall and spring are the best times to plant grass seed, because seed germinates best when temperatures are between 60°F and 80°F.

Average Days to Germinate

  • 6 - 30 days
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Will grow well in abused lawn situation or class 5 was laid down I was surprised that this filled in the gaps on my lawn concerning the prior owner the house had put class 5 down basically what I did was aerate the lawn and thatch it so that there was Rows in the dirt and then I seaded and within about a month to two months the grass is grown in and filled in all the bare spots even over the areas where the class 5 was laid down the only downside of the product is if you're planning in an area that had darker Green Kentucky bluegrass this is much wider blades grass and much lighter green so there is a contrast you can notice

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fills in quick and looks great. Not good for high traffic though. I've been reseeding my lawn with this for the past few years now. It does a good job of filling in quick, really gives my lawn a nice look. It doesn't hold up to high traffic area's come winter though. About December every year, the area at the edge of my walkway where I take my dog out turns to mud. Part of the problem is bad soil (We are built on very compacted clay soil), but even in parts where I have replaced the soil wear during the winter. Still great looking grass though.
