Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Fall Mix establishes quickly for growth before the first frost (when used as directed), so you can be sure you're taking advantage of the fall seeding window. This mix contains Root-Building Nutrition, a combination of ingredients that is expertly crafted to help establish deep roots to grow thick, green turf so that you can build a better, stronger lawn from the roots up. Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Fall Mix is designed for full sun and light shade, and has low drought resistance with medium durability. Use to seed a new lawn or overseed an existing lawn. For best results, apply in the fall when air temperatures are between 60°F and 80°F. We recommend using a Scotts® spreader to apply this product (please refer to spreader settings on product label). Water daily or as needed to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall. One 2.4 lb. bag has a new lawn coverage of 600 sq. ft. and an overseeding coverage of 1,815 sq. ft.

How to Use

New Lawn:

1. Rake to loosen the top layer of soil (approximately 2 inches deep) and remove any dead grass or debris, ensuring seed-to-soil contact.
2. Use a Scotts® spreader to apply the seed at the the recommended spreader setting: Scotts® Hand-Held Spreader: 5 (go over 2x); Scotts® Broadcast/Rotary Spreader: 7; Scotts® Drop Spreader: 13 (go over 2x); Scotts® Whizz™ Spreader: 6-1/2; Scotts Elite Spreader: 6
3. Lightly rake the seed into the soil to ensure seed is covered just beneath the soil surface. One 2.4 lb. bag has a new lawn coverage of 600 sq. ft.

Overseeding:

1. Mow lawn at the lowest setting and bag the clippings. Rake to remove debris, dead grass, and loosen the soil, ensuring seed-to-soil contact.
2. Use a Scotts® spreader to apply the seed at the the recommended spreader setting: Scotts® Hand-Held Spreader: 4; Scotts® Broadcast/Rotary Spreader: 4-1/2; Scotts® Drop Spreader: 10; Scotts® Whizz™ Spreader: 4; Scotts Elite Spreader: 4-3/4
3. Lightly rake the seed into the soil to ensure seed is covered just beneath the soil surface. One 2.4 lb. bag has an overseeding coverage 1,815 sq. ft.

Where Not to Use

• Do not apply near water, storm drains, or drainage ditches.

When to Apply

• Plant this seed in the fall when daily average soil temperatures are consistently between 55-70°F, or air temperatures between 60-80°F for at least two weeks after planting.

Watering Tips

1. Water daily or as needed to keep the soil surface moist.
2. Continue this frequent watering pattern for at least 3 weeks or until seedlings reach 2 inches in height.
3. Use auto-timers or other reminders to help ensure no essential waterings are missed.

If you're working with a grass seed that doesn't have fertilizer, look for fertilizers that are made for new grass, like Scotts® Turf Builder® Triple Action Built for Seeding. Regular fertilizers are made for established lawns and may harm new grass seedlings.
