DESCRIPTION
Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix® thrives in a variety of conditions. This mix contains Root-Building Nutrition, a combination of ingredients that is expertly crafted to help establish deep roots to grow thick, green turf so that you can build a better, stronger lawn from the roots up. Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix® is designed for full sun and dense shade, and has medium drought resistance with medium to high durability. It can be used to seed a new lawn or overseed an existing lawn. For best results, apply in the spring or fall when daily average soil temperatures are consistently between 55°F and 70°F or air temperatures are between 60°F and 80°F. We recommend using a Scotts® spreader to apply this product (please refer to spreader settings on product label). Water daily or as needed to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall. One 2.4 lb. bag of Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix® has a new lawn coverage of 320 sq. ft. and an overseeding coverage of 960 sq. ft.
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
How to Use
PREP
- New Lawns Rake area to loosen the top layer of soil (approximately 2"" deep) and remove any dead grass or debris, ensuring seed-to-soil contact.
Overseeding
- Mow lawn at the lowest setting and bag the clippings.
Rake
- to remove debris, dead grass, and loosen the soil, ensuring seed-to-soil contact.
APPLY
- Use a Scotts® spreader to apply the seed at the recommended spreader setting.
RAKE
- Lightly rake the seed into the soil to ensure seed is covered just beneath the soil surface.
WHEN AND WHERE TO USE
Where Not to Use
- Do not apply near water, storm drains or drainage ditches.
When to Apply
- This grass seed mix should be planted in spring or fall when daily average soil temperatures are consistently between 60°F and 75°F, or air temperatures are between 65°F and 85°F.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
- Do not apply if heavy rain is expected.
- After opening, plant within the season.
- Sweep any product that lands on the driveway, sidewalk, or street back onto your lawn.
- For the best results, use fresh product.
Watering Tips
- Lawn seed should be watered daily or as needed to keep the soil moist for at least 3 weeks or until seedlings reach 2 inches in height.

Beautiful backyard - waiting patiently for front
Mid summer I planted a new lawn in back of house and it came in thick and lush with no problems in about 10-15 days.
Early fall I planted the front area and I’m still waiting for one blade! I followed the same procedure I used on back. The only difference was newly purchased bags of seed. Is it possible the seed was compromised? I am using sun & shade.

Slow germination and excellent appearance
This seed is slow to germinate. It is not an instant impact contractor's mix. You have to make sure your seed bed is properly prepped and you must keep the ground moist every day. Once established, it blows away contractor mixes in appearance. It has a vibrant dark green color and over time it will grow into a lush lawn with proper care. Good things come to those who are patient and willing to wait.

Amazed!
I can't find what variety or varieties of grass seed this formula contains but it's performance has been nothing short of miraculous...where I used left over Miracle Grow all purpose potting soil for my 'top soil'. Ive had great success in other areas where I used Scott's Top Soil in the red bag...but takes longer. The pictures I included are from day 7 where I used the Miracle Grown potting mix. Neighbors have been pulling over to inquire how I grew it so quickly.

Exceeded expectations!
This product definitely exceeded my expectations, I did not expect to have such a nice thick lawn in such a short period of time. After 8 weeks I have a beautiful thick lawn that my children can enjoy playing on! Great product, definitely recommend!!

Great results in less than 2 weeks
I bought this product after having my driveway paved and having a portion of my lawn turned into a dirt pile. As first timer, I followed the instructions exactly as written. I saw great results in less that 2 weeks! I later went back in to fill some patchy areas and skimmed on the instructions, I didn’t get the same results. Long story short, follow the instructions on the bag and you’ll have great results.

Grows good in the cold fall.
I planted my Scott’s Turf Builder Grass seed in October because we had a very rainy fall season and I was unable to get outside and plant it. So I put it down mid October and it took about 3 weeks to see anything happening. The grass did eventually sprout, I was actually worried it was never going to because I waited too long. I looked outside today and it’s grown about and 1 1/4 inches. I would recommend this grass seed because it actually grew in not super great fall weather conditions.
