How to Use

When Growing New Lawns

1. Rake the area where you want to grow grass to loosen the top layer of soil (approximately 2" deep). Remove any dead grass or debris to ensure seed-to-soil contact.

2. Use a Scotts® spreader to apply

• Set a Scotts® hand-held spreader to 5 and go over the lawn 5x.
• Set a Scotts® broadcast/rotary spreader to 8 1/2 and go over the lawn 2x.
• Set a Scotts® drop spreader to 17 1/2 and go over the lawn 4x.
• Set a Scotts® Wizz® spreader to 7 and go over the lawn 2x.
• Set a Scotts® Elite spreader to 11 1/2.

3. After applying, lightly rake Scotts® Turf Builder Rapid Grass™ Southern Gold® Blend for Tall Fescue Lawns into the soil so that it is covered just beneath the soil surface.

4. Water daily to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall.

When Overseeding Existing Lawns

1. Mow the area to a height of approximately 2 inches (or to the lowest mower setting). Rake to loosen the top layer of soil. Remove any dead grass or debris.

2. Use a Scotts® spreader to apply

• Set a Scotts® hand-held spreader to 4 and go over the lawn 3x.
• Set a Scotts® broadcast/rotary spreader to 7.
• Set a Scotts® drop spreader to 16 1/2 and go over the lawn 2x.
• Set a Scotts® Wizz® spreader to 6.
• Set a Scotts® Elite spreader to 7.

3. Water daily, or as needed, to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall.

4. You can resume mowing when the lawn reaches your desired mowing height.

Where Not to Use

• Do not apply near water, storm drains or drainage ditches.
• Do not apply if heavy rain is expected.
• Apply this product only to the lawn and sweep any product that lands on the driveway, sidewalk, or street back onto the lawn.

Where to Use

• Use in the south when growing new Tall Fescue lawns or when overseeding existing ones.

When to Apply

• After opening the packaging, plant this product within the season.

Watering Tips

• Water twice daily to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings are at least 2 inches tall.

Using with Other Products

• Apply Scotts® lawn food products every 8 weeks through the season to maintain a thick, green lawn.
