Terrible and white mold growing in Most bags
Purchased 37bags of the black mulch. Most bags had a white mold growing in it. Color has not been retained as guaranteed.

Terrible product for many reasons
What a terrible experience with this mulch. We purchased 15 bags for the flower beds in front of our home. 2 bags were moldy, 2 bags have big chunks of wood and 3-4 bags were not the same color. Now just 3 weeks later our beds are full of weeds. 2 separate locations. We NEVER had weeds in these beds before. I need to completely re do our beds and of course I will not be able to get a refund from Home Depot

Not Impressed With Quality
This is the worst mulch we have bought over the years. HD had a good price and we thought we'd give it a try. The bags are filled with branches, twigs, roots, bulky chunks of wood and then some normal looking mulch. Some bags were 50% all white fungus/mold covering the black mulch that we left in the bag and discarded.

Looked GREAT for a couple of days....
I bought 10 bags of the brown mulch, put it down and it looked great so I went back the same day and bought 15 more bags from the same pallet. I put those down and boy everything looked GREAT! Fast forward a couple of days and we got rain, now some of it looks like it's been there forever with the color washed out, some still looks brown and some of it looks red. I'm not done mulching and need more to finish but I don't want to buy more of this and I really don't know what I'm going to do about the stuff I already used, it looks terrible....

Moldy and stinky
I bought 20 bags of the brown and had a guy that wanted to make some money put it in the beds and when I got home it smelled like poop and had mold in most of it

Mulch is similar to cheaper brands this yeat
Really disappointed with the mulch this yesr!! Seems to be shredded like the cheaper mulch you can buy. Color is not even like it was a year aho..you lost a loyal customer.

Terrible from bag to bag
Bought 40 bad 4-27-2024. First load of 25 was brown good condition. Second 15 were more black and shredded. Got all from HD same day. Was a different pallet. Color was suppose to be brown.
Try to mix in a wheel barrel!

Very Disappointed Man from
Poor quality Product.
I bought several bags of Scott's Brown mulch. It is definitely not the same as preious years. Seems like coated plastic mixed with other garbage. I returned in opened bags and now have to break my back cleaning up and discarded the mulch already put down. After raining a bit yesterday, the mulch as turned to Mud.
What a total Disaster! Garbage! Do not waste your time and money😡!

Black mulch turned brown in less than 24 hours!
I bought 20 bags of the black mulch on Sunday 4/28 and on 4/29 early morning after it rains parts of my plants beds are brown. Definitely not a quality product. I am so disappointed! I’ve never had mulch to do that in less than 24 hours!

First rain washed away the black coloring
Very poor color, that got worse after it rained. I didn't buy enough of another brand and mistakenly thought I could get Scott's to fill in where I lacked. I noticed the mulch didn't have the same deep black like the other bag, but after first putting it down I didn't think it that noticeable. After it rained, the Scott's product is noticeably missing a lot of the black. It looks calico with black and brown. I'm very disappointed. I do not recommend this product. Try other brands.

Bad quality
I bought three bags at Home Depot in Western Hills and Cincinnati and it’s the worst mulch I ever seen. I went and got two more bags at Home Depot and Colerain Ave., Cincinnati and it was much better very inconsistent.

Color variant in many of bags
Very disappointed- spent hours doing work & not at all happy - but wasnt lugging the bags bag up the hill & to the store

My kid is covered in bug bites from manure MULCH!
We bought this earthgro mulch for our kids playground and it has MANURE all in it! My kids ENTIRE playground is covered in bugs!!!! My toddler has 40 + bites on him just from being out there for 5 minutes! DO NOT BUY MULCH FROM EARTHGRO FOR YOUR KIDS PLAYGROUND!!!!! Warning labels should be on bags that these are not safe!

Worst MULCH on the market
I am 77 years old and have been spreading mulch for over 50 years . Every year your product gets worse. This year the bags are smaller, same price, large pieces of wood, it’s not mulch, color turned in one week! You can not be proud of this product.

Lots of trash in Mulch
Lots of trash in the Mulch. I had to hire the neighbor kids to come pick the trash out of the mulch. I’ve used this for years and I’ve never seen trash like this.

No Thank You
Purchased 15 plus bags of Earth Gro Black Mulch from Home Depot on 04/02/24 and within 4 days mulch has faded Brown. I went back to my local Home Depot where this was purchased and was totally amazed that Home Depot associate advised me to Contact Scott's to assist with this purchase. I'm a contractor and do many projects for Home Owners as well, but was turned away from Home Depot. This purchase was for my own Home, so I wouldn't in my right mind recommend this product for my clients. I spent quite a few hours spreading this product in my flower beds and now I'm going to have to remove all and purchase another product and replace because I don't want 4 inches of mulch in my beds. Very disappointed in Scotts and also Home Depot. I will be contacting local management at Home Depot on Monday. I tried to add a Photo, but even that wouldn't work !

Color does not hold up even after a week
We bought 30 bags of the Earthgro Color advantage Black Mulch a week ago. Less than a week and it is already graying! Not worth it if the color isn't going to stay.

I bought this, 16 bags.. used 10 and day after rain bad all day in Houston..all color wash out..AWFULL I wish I can atach pictures.. everyone in Los recommended that but I'm not going to buy it ..no more.

Mulch turned gray after a week-Don't Recommend
We have used Scott's mulch for years and have been very happy, except this year. We put down new black mulch last weekend and this weekend and last weekends mulch is already grayed. The Earthgro mulch is a waste of money! I would not recommend purchasing. There should not be that much of a difference after only a week. We did let the mulch dry and there was no rain within 48 hours of putting the mulch down. It did rain a couple of days ago, but again, not within the 48 hours I have read in multiple other customer services responses. I am very disappointed.

“Shrink-flation” at Scott’s. Buyer Beware
Scott’s made their bags smaller (1.5 cu ft) for the same price as your 2.0 cu ft bags last year. This means we’re hauling more bags & taking more trips to the store so they can look like they didn’t raise their prices? Why? This is asinine. Will never buy this product again. Super frustrating & terrible business practice.

It became moldy and clumpy
I purchased over 12 bags just for a couple months later it got white mold and clumped together. My husband had to rake it up. Some areas could barely get raked it was so packed together. Never had this happen before when buying mulch.

Looked good for 2 months . Now dry , grey and looks like I never put it down .5 for 10 deal at Home Depot. Bought 70+ bags . Home Depot say I have to write to company. Can’t find customer service email . Website won’t allow me to add photos

Dull Color After One Day
I used this Scott’s product for the first time this year, despite it being the more expensive option. Figured I would get what I paid for. Over three days I laid 65 bags and initially I was very pleased and it had a desirable dark black appearance. But I noticed after each day, the previous days laid areas where very dry and the rich black coloring had changed to a dull dried looking blackish/gray color. It has not rained since I put the mulch down, so that’s not the issue. Very disappointed that the new mulch has a black tint very similar to the old mulch that had been in place for over a year.

Put on this mulch yesterday. In black. My husband did it while I was not home. The entire yard smells like manure. It's 90 degrees out, and I can't even be outside. It also turned a grey brown as it's drying, in less than 24 hours.

HORRIBLE
So I needed 8 more bags of mulch, my store was out so I went to Home Depot in Mentor on 6/21/23 and they only had Earthgro. They had it in Black my choice of Mulch color so I purchased it. The entire time I was laying in my flower beds I could not figure out the smell. Then late last night it dawns on me that it smelled like Whiskey. My only hope is that my 5 Azaleas and 6 Heirloom rose bushes don't die. I am super annoyed by this. I have never come across this before. GRRRRRR
