In addition, Scotts® Nature Scapes® Triple Shred Black Mulch creates a natural weed barrier in landscape areas by blocking their growth and access to sunlight - just place the mulch in the desired location in a 2 inch layer. This mulch is for use around trees, shrubs, flowers, or vegetables. For longest lasting color, keep mulch dry for at least 24 hours after application. When applied at the recommended 2 inch rate, 3 bags of Scotts® Nature Scapes® Triple Shred Black Mulch cover 24 sq. ft., 6 bags cover 48 sq. ft., 8 bags cover 72 sq. ft., and 14 bags cover 120 sq. ft.

Last year I put down as usual my Scotts triple shredded mulch, but it grew fungus and red devils horn fungus! What will make me try it again?

Says Black but dried and looks BROWN!!!!
Purchased 15 bags on 6/27/24 and 10 more on 6/28/24 for a new flower bed. Applied all 25 bags on 6/28/24 and it looked great, nice black mulch (wet from bag) and very little, if any large pieces. I wish that I could stop here, but as the mulch dried the color lightened up to the point that it looked brown. Not a deep dark brown but a light brown. It appears that the dye is the wrong color or not enough to keep it black.
I know not to hose or water the mulch until it dries to prevent from washing the color off. If I wanted brown I would have bought brown mulch. Looks terrible with the rest of the mulch beds having black mulch. It’s not like I can bag it up and return it for a refund. $5.39 a bag ($135 plus tax) kind of expensive for a base and now I will have to buy more to top dress it. It won’t Scott’s Triple Shred.

Disappointed!
I wanted a finely shredded mulch, so I went out of my way to find some. I should have believed the negative reviews from others. It was no better than any other coursely shredded generic mulch. Not recommended!

Very Disappointed
I am so disappointed in this mulch. Today we bought 19 bags of this triple shredded black mulch. It had mostly big chunks of bark, branches, even whole pine cones. There was very little fine triple shredded mulch. This was definitely not was expected from a company like Scott’s.

Very disappointed, does not hold its color
I have used Scott’s triple shred mulch in the past and loved it, I am not sure what changed, I purchased 30 bags of the Black and put it down a few weeks ago and now it is light brown, and faded quite a bit, very disappointed as I am going to have to get More black mulch to go over it now. I am not sure what was changed with this product, but will not be buying it anymore

Poor product for the money
I purchased 20 bags of the brown tripled shredded much. How disappointing. The color wasn’t as vibrant as previous years, smelly, and big chunks. I won’t spend the extra money on your product anymore.

Not worth the price!
So, so very disappointed in this product! I purchased 20 bags of mulch and at least half of them are nothing but mold! It looks and smells horrible! I expected with the Scotts name and price of this mulch that the quality would be much better than this!
