Description
Get started on a lush, green lawn with the Scotts® Grass Seed and Fertilizer Bundle. Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix® thrives in a variety of conditions and is designed for full sun and dense shade with medium to high drought resistance. Follow-up your seed application with Scotts® Turf Builder® Triple Action Built for Seeding. This weed and feed is designed for new grass and can be applied immediately after seeding. In addition, it prevents crabgrass, dandelion, clover, ground ivy, chickweed, henbit, and nutsedge. To apply, first prep your lawn for seeding or overseeding as needed. Fill your Scotts® spreader with grass seed and set the dial to the recommended setting. After application, rake to ensure the seed is lightly covered with soil. Last, use your spreader to apply weed and feed (remember to change your spreader settings per label directions). One 5.6 lb. bag of Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix® has a new lawn coverage of 745 sq. ft. and an overseeding coverage of 2,240 sq. ft. How to Use
To Apply Grass Seed:
- PREP: For a new lawn, rake area to loosen the top layer of soil (approximately 2 inches deep) and remove any dead grass or debris, ensuring seed-to-soil contact. To overseed, mow the lawn at the lowest setting and bag the clippings. Rake to remove debris, dead grass, and loosen the soil, ensuring seed-to-soil contact.
- APPLY: Use a Scotts® Spreader to apply seed at the recommended spreader setting. New Lawn: Scotts® Broadcast/Rotary Spreader: 10 1/2; Scotts® Elite Spreader: 8 1/2; Scotts® Drop Spreader: 17 1/2 (Go over lawn 4X); Scotts® Wizz® Spreader: 5 3/4 (Go over lawn 2X); Scotts® Hand-held Spreader: 5 (Go over lawn 3X); Overseeding: Scotts® Broadcast/Rotary Spreader: 5;Scotts® Elite Spreader: 5 1/4 Scotts®; Drop Spreader: 14 1/2 (Go over lawn 2X); Scotts® Wizz® Spreader: 4 3/4; Scotts® Hand-held Spreader: 5
- RAKE: Lightly rake the seed into the soil to ensure seed is covered just beneath the soil surface.
Follow your grass seed application with an application of Scotts® Turf Builder® Triple Action Built for Seeding:
- Fill and set your spreader: Scotts® Broadcast/Rotary Spreader: 4 1/2; Scotts® Drop Spreader: 7; Scotts® Wizz® Spreader: 4 3/4
- Walk at a steady pace.
- Lightly water lawn to activate.
WHEN AND WHERE TO USE
Where to Use
- Do not apply Scotts® Turf Builder® Triple Action Built for Seeding in a way that will contact any person or pet either directly or through drift. Do not apply another pesticide within seven days of an application of this product as turf injury may occur.
When to Apply
- For best results, apply grass seed in the Spring or Fall when daily average soil temperature are consistently between 55°F and 70°F, or air temperatures are between 60°F and 80°F.

Watering Tips
- Water grass seed daily or as needed to keep the soil surface moist.
- Continue this frequent watering pattern for at least 3 weeks or until seedlings reach 2 inches in height.
- Use auto-timers or other reminders to help ensure no essential waterings are missed.

These products are Excellent! Fantastic Results!
Last fall, we resurfaced our entire front lawn first by using Round up to kill everything & removed debris & dead roots with sharp thatch rake, scraping/regrading low areas, seeded, and fertilized with Scotts Triple Action. (The lawn was mostly weeds & dead grass from drought) . The grass came in beautifully, as weeds were effectively controlled weeds (some crabgrass was stubborn). This spring, we used this fertilizer first as a preventative before temperatures were suitable for seeding. A few weeks later, after removing large dying weeds, too big to leave in, we applied the 3-in-One fertilizer a SECOND time and over-seeded with the Scott’s special PA State Blend covering any bare patches. Watering daily, along with some April showers, the grass has never looked better! The best part? The grass is green on OUR side!😆☺️ I love that this fertilizer is safe for seeding AND does a great job killing those pesky weeds, ESPECIALLY nutsedge, which is very difficult to eradicate. Thank you, Scotts! Tip: If directions are followed carefully, the outcome is well worth the effort!

Loving our lawn!
My husband loves to have a nice looking lawn but has been use to northern grasses and upkeep. We had a lot of bare spots and nasty old Bermuda in patches. I finally convinced him to try cutting it longer and use Scotts Turf builder for seeding with Scotts fescue for our Tennessee area. The lawn has never looked so good. We still have some spots that need some TLC but most of it has filled in and very little old Bermuda is present. It is thicker than it has been in the 11 years we have lived here. Thank you Scotts!!

Beautiful backyard - waiting patiently for front
Mid summer I planted a new lawn in back of house and it came in thick and lush with no problems in about 10-15 days.
Early fall I planted the front area and I’m still waiting for one blade! I followed the same procedure I used on back. The only difference was newly purchased bags of seed. Is it possible the seed was compromised? I am using sun & shade.

Slow germination and excellent appearance
This seed is slow to germinate. It is not an instant impact contractor's mix. You have to make sure your seed bed is properly prepped and you must keep the ground moist every day. Once established, it blows away contractor mixes in appearance. It has a vibrant dark green color and over time it will grow into a lush lawn with proper care. Good things come to those who are patient and willing to wait.

Amazed!
I can't find what variety or varieties of grass seed this formula contains but it's performance has been nothing short of miraculous...where I used left over Miracle Grow all purpose potting soil for my 'top soil'. Ive had great success in other areas where I used Scott's Top Soil in the red bag...but takes longer. The pictures I included are from day 7 where I used the Miracle Grown potting mix. Neighbors have been pulling over to inquire how I grew it so quickly.
