How to Use

1. Get Ready. New lawn: Rake area to loosen the top layer of soil (approximately 2 inches deep) and remove any dead grass or debris, ensuring seed-to-soil contact. Overseeding: Before seeding, mow at the lowest setting and bag the clippings. Rake to remove debris, dead grass and to loosen the soil, ensuring seed-to-soil contact.
2. Apply. Pour the product into your Scotts® spreader and set the dial to the appropriate setting in the table below. For even application, walk at a steady pace slightly overlapping each pass. New Lawn spreader settings: Scotts® Broadcast/Rotary Spreader: 7; Scotts® Elite Spreader: 6; Scotts® Drop Spreader: 14; Scotts® Wizz® Spreader: 6-1/4; Scotts® Hand-Held Spreaders: 4 x 3 passes. New lawn coverage rate: 665 sq. ft. Overseeding spreader settings: Scotts® Broadcast/Rotary Spreader: 3; Scotts® Elite Spreader: 4; Scotts® Drop Spreader: 8-1/4; Scotts® Wizz® Spreader: 4; Scotts® Hand-Held Spreaders: 3 x 2 passes. 3. Rake. Lightly rake the seed into the soil to ensure the seed is slightly covered by the soil.
4. Water. Lightly water the seeded area so the soil surface is moist. Continue to water daily for at least 3 weeks (set a reminder in your phone so you don't forget!), or until your new grass reaches 2 inches in height.

We crafted this grass seed with hand-selected varieties of Bermudagrass seed grown in California and paired it with soil-improving clay. This grass seed also contains Natural Grass Food with feather meal and blood meal to feed grass, potassium sulfate to feed grass and strengthen roots, molasses to feed soil microbes, and flour meal to feed grass and improve soil.

The best time to plant warm season grasses like Bermudagrass is late spring to early summer. Warm season grasses grow the most when air temperatures are between 70°F and 90°F. They also need warmer soil temperatures to germinate, between 65°F and 80°F.

Bermudagrass is naturally drought tolerant, but it still likes a good drink of water. Give it about an inch of water per week (take local rainfall into consideration). Typically, Bermudagrass can be kept shorter than other grasses, only 1-2 inches tall. Feed your green space with O.M. Scott & Sons™ Natural Grass Food to strengthen your grass from the roots up. Bermudagrass goes dormant in winter, so don't worry if your green space is more like a brown space from October to April.
