Scotts® Turf Builder® SummerGuard® Lawn Food with Insect Control protects during the hottest months to maintain a summer-ready lawn. This summer lawn fertilizer can help your lawn build tougher, stronger, deeper roots, promoting the growth of drought tolerant grass. Additionally, the lawn insect control provides a strong deterrent against a wide range of pests, including ants, armyworms, chinch bugs, crickets, fleas, grasshoppers, spiders, and ticks.
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
How to Use
- For best results, use this summer lawn fertilizer on your lawn during the summer months.
- Apply it to dry grass before watering it in thoroughly.
- Use a Scotts spreader for the best results in drought tolerant grass and lawn insect control.
- Scotts® broadcast/rotary spreaders, use a setting of 3 ¾.
- Scotts® drop spreaders, use a setting of 8 ½.
- Scotts® Elite spreader, use a setting of 5.
- Water product in following application.
- Avoid using any other weed or lawn insect control products for at least a week after applying Scotts SummerGuard.
- One 13.35 lb. bag of Scotts® Turf Builder® SummerGuard® Lawn Food with Insect Control covers 5,000 sq. ft.

Love scotts products
I like all the scotts fertilizer products, I follow the early spring, spring, summer and fall feedings and my yard looks good, it mashed me feel satisfied. I do kind of wait to see how the yard is doing in the summer and you do really need to time it right with rain, so it doesn't burn the grass. I think the prices are ok. I got a pretty sweet deal ordering online with a discount. So you just need to sign up for their email newsletter and when they run specials that's a good time to buy. I normally buy at a big box store, but this last time I bought through scotts directly and it worked out well. It shipped really quick too. My lawn looks beautiful and I have to mow it again due to the fertilizer doing it's job. I cant really say I've noticed a difference with bugs yet however. Just make sure to read the instructions and follow them and I think you will get a nice looking lawn.

Great product
Best summer lawn food on the market.! Goes down easy and consistently when applied with a broadcaster. No clumps to deal with. Controls the carpet moth that I’m plagued with. Best of all, shipped free directly to the house, and that’s a huge plus for me.

Another Great Scotts Product
For many years, I have been using Scotts® Turf Builder® products for lawn feeding and weed control and I use Grub-Ex for grub control. After my lawn was diagnosed with cinch bugs one summer, I added Turf Builder® SummerGuard® for insect control as a regular application and have been pleased with the results ever since. I use a 40+ year old Scotts Precision Drop Spreader and follow the widget settings for each Scotts product I apply. Scotts is the brand I rely on for each application every season.
