1. Prepare the Area: Begin by removing any dead grass and weeds from the area where you plan to plant a new lawn or thicken an existing one.
2. Add LawnSoil: For new lawns, mix a 2.5 cm (1 inch) layer of Scotts® Turf Builder® Enriched LawnSoil™ with 2.5 cm (1 inch) of existing soil. When overseeding, apply a 3-6 mm (1/8” – ¼”) layer evenly over the existing lawn.
3. Spread Grass Seed: Use a high-quality grass seed, such as Scotts Pure Premium® Brand, and gently rake it into the soil.
4. Water Frequently: Keep the top 2.5 cm (1 inch) of soil moist by watering frequently rather than deeply. This is crucial for seed germination and seedling growth.
5. Fertilize: After seedlings emerge, wait 4-6 weeks before feeding with Scotts® Turf Builder® fertilizer. Continue to fertilize regularly according to the Scotts® Annual Fertilizer program, every 6-8 weeks until mid-Fall.
